Default I have a huge cat living under my house!

I saw a glimpse of it a few weeks ago and figured it was just hiding out from the dogs but now at night I hear it under my house. It is a humongous white cat! I'm wondering if it's so huge because it is pregnant. It won't come to me at all. I can't catch it out long enough to seal up the crawl space. We don't have cats cause dh doesn't like them so I don't know what I'll do if it has babies under my house. Should I leave food and water out for it or just hope it goes away....... I sure would love to have a kitty.

I'm sure others here will know a LOT more, but I can tell you that feral cats aren't usually too friendly, so unless you want a lot of scratches or can figure out a way to protect yourself, I'd stay away from it for now.

I had a co-worker who caught a feral cat and all her babies and got them all fixed. She was able to give the kittens good home, and kept one, because they were still young enough to be tamed. The mother, though, had to go back out into the wild.

I have a stray cat that has decided she lives at my house now. I have fed her for the last 4 years, maybe 5. At first she wasn't very friendly but now she thinks she owns me!!

I leave food and water out for her and she just comes and goes, I don't let her inside and she is happy to just hang out.

If the cat has been there for a few weeks she probably plans to stay so if it were me I would leave food.....it might make her trust you enough to let you get a close look at her.....that is just what I would do!! Good luck

I agree, I have been feeding strays for years, if your kitty is pregnant she will need lots of food and water. Hugs to you for wanting to help her!

Around these parts if you feed a stray that makes it your cat which means you are responsible for any kittens or damages if the cat should get sick and attack someone or anything else that could happen. If you live in town all that is more important, I could see harboring a stray if you live out in the country with no neighbors around.
You could call the Humane society and have the cat taken to a shelter. They charge $40 per cat where I live though, so alot of people won't do it.
I adore cats and don't mind them wandering around my yard, but I prefer if they are fixed, not flea infested, and their caretakers provide a warm place for them on cold nights. They do need to have their shots as well, to keep the kids safe if they should make friends.

Our shelter charges $5.00 to surrender a cat, so check with yours. It may be that it's a reasonable amount. Ask to borrow a live trap (usually you can use one for free with a deposit) and bring her in. They will spay her (if it's a her) or neuter him and give him/her the necessary shots.
