we have.....
...an egg. One of the finches laid an egg. It would take two or three of them to cover a penny! Later on I will post a pic. As for now, I have cut up some small strips of stuff for her to build hereslf a warm little nest. (THey already had nest cups to build nest in) Once she's a little less fidgety I will take a pic.
Whee - hee! I'm excited, and the kids are learning something too.~~ Missy ~~

I don't know wether or not she's incubated before, we only got her two weeks ago. She and Ethel. And last week we got Fred, so... I have no idea. But i have called the pet shop and they said that their finches lay all the time.

three little bitty eggs buh-ha-ha-ha-ha (the count from sesame street)
according to all the research i have found will lay between 3-5 eggs, and will start incubating anytime between now and when the last one is laid. She'll incubate for about 2 weeks.
I noticed Ethel helping put in the nest, sitting on the eggs while Lucy was eating. She got off right away when Lucy came back, but there wasn't any bickering about it. Fred hasn't gone near.
DS1 is all sorts of excited about this whole process. He's keeping a journal about it as a school project.~~ Missy ~~

four little bitty eggs!
I hope I am not boring anyone with all of this. We are quite excited wit the whole process. It is neat to see, especially for the kids how she cares for her eggs. She rolls them and rotates their position too. I have marked them with numbers as they are laid so that I know if say eggs numbers 3-4 hatch and number one doesn't. I wish I had a light box, I'd try candling them to see if they are fertile.~~ Missy ~~
