I'm so sad...
...Joey (our 16 mo old cat) has been missing for 36 hrs. We have no idea where he is. I think he may have gotten outside somehow. He has front claws, so that's good, but he doesn't have a collar or tags (he refused to keep them on), and it's been so cold and snowy here.
The kids and I are devastated. I just don't know where he could be.

Have you looked in closets & drawers? How about boxes from presents? Hope you can find him.

If he wasn't neutered yet, maybe he is just visiting and will return home in a couple of days. I hope he does.

He has been neutered, and he's never been outside, except for when he was abandoned as a baby.Originally posted by KatieInLa2

Oh no!
Prayers that little Joey finds his way home.
Our older Maine Coon got out a few months ago. He was out 6 hours before we realized he wasn't in the house. Everyone was so distraught, he's such a lovey boy. He has no front claws & is friendly towards dogs & other animals so he would have no clue that there are mean ones out there.
I took his food dish outside and shook it while sitting on our back steps. Turns out he was under our back porch the whole time, he just didn't know how to get back out LOL.
Maybe you could sit outside shaking his food dish?

Poor baby! I hope he turns up soon!! We had a little girl kitty eons and eons ago. She was tiny, white, quiet thing. Her name was sissy. Well, one day we couldn't find Sissy anywhere. Outside, no luck. Neighbors, no luck. All around the house, no luck. Post pound, no luck. We didn't see her for two days!! We were freaking out. We had a second cat in the house as well, Chuck. Anyhow we couldn't find her. Then Mom went to put away some laundry. and the closet was weird, the door never shut right. And there, curled up into a little sleepy ball was Sissy way way way at the top, happy and content as any cat could be snoozing away as if nothing was amiss. We have no idea how she slipped under our radar, because she had not been seen eating, litter box-ing, or anything. But she'd managed to hide herself for at least two whole days...INSIDE! With two kids in the house (brother and I were 8 and 5) looking for her.

Oh no Chelle!

This is going to sound crazy but don't forget to check all the kitchen cupboards too, mine open them to get in and sleep. How about the basement or maybe the attic when you were bringing gifts down? Toy boxes, closets, fireplace, inside back packs, dresser drawers? I have found that big cats can get into the tiniest places you ever saw!
Hope you find Joey soon.

Try looking under the box springs, my cats used to hide there after they ripped holes in them. Also in back of the washer and dryer, under chairs and sofa too. They'll rip the lining out just a bit and crawl right in.
I hope you find the little one soon.

I hope Joey comes home soon.
I have a space between my kitchen cabinets and my ceiling. Our cat somehow gets up there and hides. Also, if you have a space under your house for him to go, he might be under there. Our cat some times goes under our house and hides from other animals when he sneaks out.~*Michelle*~

Michelle, has Joey been found yet?
Our Sassie often gets way under the couch and she is so hard to see. I know how panicky we get when we can find her too.
