IMPORTANT: DOG OWNERS PLEASE READ
Below is a website with details how a popular dog treat has led to the doggie deaths due to suffocation due to lack of digestion. I was SHOCKED, to say the least. I will NEVER give my little 'hunkie-bunkie' another one.

Thanks for the info. I have given them to my dogs before. They are very large and tend to just swallow things. Greenies are off the list.

Greenies
My sister buys these by the box for her lab. I'll pass this article on to her.

And NEVER give your kitties the Feline Greenies!!!!!! Ever!!!!!
(this from your friendly neighborhood cat vet)
Greenies are WAY too hard and compacted to be safe. They don't soften up properly in wet conditions, and have been unequivocally linked to many cases of gastrointestinal obstruction, and have been particularly bad as an esophageal foreign body. Very dangerous in animals that do not chew thoroughly, and how the heck are we supposed to guarantee THAT? What cat or dog ever listened when mom said "Chew your food up real well before swallowing"? Especially cats - mine are gulpers, not chewers.

Well I've never heard of them over here, but if I ever come across them I shall steer well clear! Thanks for the info!

There are several things you should never give your dog. Cloth toys are a big no no. They can swallow pieces of it and over time it can cause really bad digestive problems. When you buy any type of rawhide be sure it is made in the United States a lot of the rawhide made in other countries has really bad chemicals in them that can hurt your dog. Never use tennis balls either unattended as the center is very bad for your dog.

Greenies are real popular with people who have small dogs, in my experience anyway. I don't give them to my dogs. I order all natural treats that are made from human grade food. A little bit more expensive, but I feel good about giving them to my dogs!

My dog loves greenies! I will say though that she has had a piece of rawhide strip (won't eat the bones, too scared of them) stuck in her throat which had to be pulled out before. I can't conclude that a greenie is any more dangerous than a rawhide or any other object she puts in her mouth.
