    Default We've been adopted.

Here's the pair of Canadian geese than have been hanging around all day. They've been in and out of the nest box, but mostly lounging around the pond

Yes, she is banded and also has a leg band. I emailed F & G with the #, and they replied that she was banded here in Boise in 2004 as an adult. She's a local gal They are so tame here, it's crazy. This is less than 20 ft. from the patio! But when there's about 10- 15 in the yard, they can sure leave a mess! They also eat a fair amount....we put out about 40 pounds of corn a week.

We had a Canadian Honker when I was a kid. Watch out of they DO nest because they can be very, very aggressive in protecting their nests.

They are fun to watch and the babies are cute little guys. They will also clean any slugs out of the area.

ok stupid Q. How does the neck tag keep from strangling them as they grow?

they stop growing as an adult. And it has a slight stretch to it so they can swallow.

AND it's NOT a stupid question!

I reviewed this pic again because the first time, I couldn't see the 2nd one. I actually thought the plant near the geese was the feathered wings of the second one. AND further, I thought the goose sitting on the edge- had a very long neck! DUH! Talk about stupid!LOL.
