Unhappy Not such a good day after all

My mom wrote me Thursday to tell me that our family lab, Molly, was real sick and at the vet.

My stepdad and step sister left for vacation yesterday afternoon but not before he went by the vet to see Molly. She rose up from her cage (they had her on IV's and the cone thing around her neck as she had pulled two of them out already) and wagged her tail when he went in to see her and tell her bye. The vet told my stepdad that her blood work looked better from one night on the Iv's but he wanted to keep her another day to be certain, and they were going to run more tests (he was really hoping to bring her home before he left for Charleston) They told mom to plan on picking her up today around noon that she should be ready to go by then. But that wouldn't turn out to be the case after all.

Mom called about 9:30 this morning to tell me she was on the way to the vet and they were going to have to put Molly to sleep. Her kidney's are almost shut completly down and she threw up all night long. My stepdad feels horrible as he can't be there (after all she was his Christmas gift from mom the first Christmas they were married) so he asked his son to meet mom there so she doesn't have to do it alone. I know it may sound silly to some, but I've cried over this dog a lot this morning since talking to my mom.

My mom sounded terrible, as would be expected, if I lived closer I'd go home for the day just so she wouldn't be by herself.

It doesn't sound silly at all Kat. Some pets are just like family members.
