    Default Litter boxes?

Okay...so as you know I now have three kittens. So cats equal litter boxes and I was wondering if you could give me any suggestions. I have been looking and the Littermaid/mate (the automatic scooping thing) and the Rollaway (you roll it on it's side and the nasties go into a bin then you just pull the thing out and trash the stuff). I am leaning toward the Rollaway because it's cheaper, doesn't require electric/batteries, or the little disposal boxes. Do any of you have either of these types of litterboxes and what do you think about them? I am planning on keeping the cats (3) inside.

go for the rollaway of those two, ive had 2 littermaids and honestly, i dont think it was worth it... they're too small for the cats, the kitty waste gets stuck to the rake, and they're just a nuissance...

We have the littermaid. It's costly, but works well. Gabe got it for me while I was pregnant.

The first week we had it, I was overly aware of it turning on. lol

    It's a gadget-y thing, but it's a nice gadget to have.

It was funny to see our cat the first time it turned on. lol My thoughts are some cats would not use it because of the noise. We didn't have that problem, but I am sure some people have.

One thing, you can't overfill the litter or it won't work right.

I just use the tried and true cat littler box for my 2 cats. However, I did start using Feline Pine litter. You use very little of it because once the cats start using it, they break it down and it expands into a lot of litter. You can shake the box and the pine will refresh the box. One bag which costs me $2.97 here in Florida will last me for a month. You can either dispose of the litter or use the pine litter (with the wastes disposed from it) for mulching outside. The bag tells all about that.

I had one of those litter boxes that cleaned themselves, and it was a total waste of money. I would never get one again. I also use the feline pine but I do not use the pellets because my cat did not like them. I use the one that is a dust. It is awesome for keeping odors away. I have tried them all and nothing compares.

The thing is we have a small house and there really isn't anywhere to "hide" a litter box. I have a two year old that I have already found playing in the litter and a dog that thinks it's a snack, gross on both counts. So I would like to have something covered and out of sight. I do not want to constantly be checking the box to see if it needs cleaned ya' know. The rollaway has a top and the automatic thing would clean itself so to speak.

I just use a Rubbermaid tote with the lid removed. I clean it every day. I use scooping litter and have no problems.

I agree with the Feline Pine; best stuff around. I also use the Rubbermaid thing without the lid. You can get regular litter boxes with hoods.

I have a regular covered litter pan, but we use a Litter Locker. It is basically the same thing as a diaper genie, and it works for us. We have two cats and clean the box twice a day at least.

I have seen one of Clevercats before -- the family had a dog that thought the litter box was a "buffet" so to speak. They loved it and the cats loved it, also. Don't know if you've checked them out, but PetSmart and PetCo both have them.

Oooo the Clevercat looks interesting. I could just get a Rubbermaid container and cut a hole in the lid. Only thing the kittens may be to small for it just yet. I do not think we have Feline Pine around here. I have been in just about every pet store in the last week or so and haven't seen it. Maybe I'll go back and look around some more. Thanks for the advice and any more ideas are welcome.

I just use a regular litter bow with a cover on it. We have 2 cats so it gets cleaned every day.
My mom has 2 cats and no litter box, her cats are potty trained.LOL!!
