Simple homemade pet chow
I know homemade pet food is healthier and I KNOW people who do cook for their pets but always thought who has that kind of time. These seemed pretty simple so thought I'd share!
FOR DOGS
3c cooked oatmeal
2c cooked ground beef
2tbsp plain yogurt
1 sm apple cut or sliced into sm pieces
Mix together and serve at room temperature
FOR CATS
2 c cooked chicken
1/4 c grated carrots
1 c brown rice, cooked
Cut or grind chicken into sm pieces. Mix, adding 2 tpsp chick fat (if any) or the mix. Serve at room temp.Heather

This looks easy enough. Do you know how long it would keep in the fridge? I have a miniture poodle that wouldn't eat it all in one day.

I am cautious about the yogurt part. My Molly tends to get ill from dairy. Have you had any trouble with it?

I give my dog a few spoonfuls -- maybe 1/2 a cup of yogurt everyday. No problems but I imagine dairy might not sit well with some dogs.

And I thi nk it would keep in the fridge a few days at least as long as any other dish you make.

Do you know what the serving size might be for small/med/large dogs? Is it the same as regular dog food? I would imagine this homemade stuff is more calorie dense because it doesn't have the fillers...

Thanks for the recipes. I cook for my cats and dogs. I have to watch the dairy too. It makes all my fur brats a little sick. I make a tuna ,rice and veggie mix for them all. I have four five week old kittens that love it . I just ground it up for them.
