Guess What Found Us Today? :)
Tonight,
and I packed up and decided to spend the night at his place. So we gathered our goods together and headed downstairs.
We weren't even to my car yet when I turned around and here is this skinny little tabby cat scampering across the parking lot towards us. She's very friendly and vocal, and curling around us very affectionately. She is also extremely thin. She is fairly young, probably a year or so old and very eager to be with us.
We discuss it a bit and decide that the best thing to do is bring her with us to
's apartment, give her a good meal and a place to sleep at least for the night, and then start looking for "Lost" ads around the neighborhood.
Once we get her home it's clear that she is starved -- she digs into the food we give her with a vengence, but shys away when we come near it, as if she is afraid of us being around her dish. We actually have to pick her up and take her back to the dish before she devours it further. Then she wanders the apartment, talking to us at great length (I tell
she's giving us the details of her life).
Of course, my soft hearted sweetie is rather smitten by our new friend. She is a pretty brown and white and black tabby with pure white paws on all four feet, big green/yellow saucer eyes and a pretty voice. She's very comfortable with both of us, but definitely seems to have taken a shine to
.
It doesn't take more than an hour or two for
to decide that if we don't hear anything about a missing kitty, he will keep her. We've dubbed her Nisha, since she found us at night, and Nisha means "night" in Sanskrit.
Nisha has immediately taken over the apartment. She is very much a little diva. She talks constantly, and I've never seen a cat clean herself so much! She primps and paws and prunes her fur until she is shinning from ears to tail -- I told
that was proof she was a girl because no man would ever primp and preen himself that long!
-- but she doesn't like to be cuddled too long (just like
), likes the night air (just like
), falls asleep at the drop of a hat (just like
) and loves to look at herself in the mirror (just like
).
So
has pretty much adopted this new "Little Missus" into his life (he calls me "Missus") and I think they're going to make an excellent team.

We got a cat this way and had her for a while. she was a beautiful gray and white cat. She had some babies, but in the end we had to give her away. We can only handle one cat and one dog at a time.

Isn't it funny how we humans think that we choose & adopt the cats, but I have a feeling that they actually pick US.
Glad your new little friend found her way into a loving home!

Nisha has taken full control of the apartment. She's quite a dominent little lady -- when I came in tonight to take care of her... Well, let's just say she didn't need to be taken care of!
I came home and found her curled up in the coat closet with
's sneakers. She's been in there for over an hour and a half since I got home, and Goddess knows how long before that!
She just now came out to get a bite to eat.
Yup, I'm convinced that she and
are going to get along just dandy.

lol Little Missus is quite a vocal creature, and she loves to be outside. We have been up nearly all night with her crying to get outside again!
finally let her out for about fifteen minutes, then went back and got her again. I don't like her being out there with no identification or anything, so I'm going to call the vet today and see about getting a tag for her, so we can let her out and get her back if she wanders too far.
was not impressed with the whinning all night, but when he let her out, she came right over when he called her, though she didn't want to come back inside yet. He brought her back anyway, and then she started crying to get out again later on. So as long as she comes back, he doesn't mind letting her out. I'll feel a lot better about letting her out once we have a name tag for her.

I'll take pics as soon as I can borrow my mom's digital camera (probably next week -- someone remind me!!!).
I went and got her the tag today -- it cost me $21.00 and then another $4.00 for the collar, but I feel much better with that around her neck. At least now if she wanders too far or someone sees her, they know that she does have a home. It turned out to be a very pretty tag -- it says "Nisha" and then the address, and on the back, mine and
's phone numbers. So she should be fine with that on. She's quite an adventurous little tabby.
Nothing like my sweetie, Tempest, at all.
