Fostering, sort of
I had two lovely cats that I found a new (and totally wonderful) home for last August which I found out I was looking at major surgery and chemo. I just didn't think I would have the energy to deal with them, especially Maggie, an extremely smart cat who required an unusual amount of attention and stimulation.
But now I have a friend who can't keep her cats for a while -- from a few weeks or months, until maybe July. She could find no one else to keep them for her, so I volunteered, though reluctantly. They are coming Monday
, and I find now I'm getting a little excited at having cats again. They are Colin, a gray tabby, and Daisy, whom I have not seen. So I will be a (temporary) cat mom. Or rather grandma. Mom will still take care of the expenses, vet trips and such. I have all the good parts, none of the bad.
My only concern is that I have, in the interval, set up two aquariums. I just hope they turn out to be the sort of cats who think of them as kitty television, not as an exploring challenge and dinner opportunity. My friend is bringing them when I will be able to be home with them for the first couple of days -- just to be sure!
Anyway, I will soon be a bona fide member of the cat hair club again. And I'm glad. There's nothing like a good cat.....Donna

It's nice of you to take care of them for her. I had cats when I had an aquarium and the only problem I ever had was the cats loved to lay on top of it on the light b/c it was warm.
Enjoy your guests

Cats are wonderful! I can't imagine my life without a cat around (or two in my case)
I hope you have a lot of fun with them!

Well, the new cats arrived Monday night. They are lovely. The one that was a gray tabby as a kitten has darkened; in very bright light you can still see a hint of faint tabby stripes, but he really looks like just a solid dark charcoal gray, short velvety furred cat. Very long legged, thin, and lithe, very much his own person. He loves sleeping on a thick towel in the bathtub (there's no accounting for cat choices). The other is a medium/long (not Persian long) brown tabby with a lot of white, on the small side. Very much a people cat, who likes a lot of cuddling. She's fallen in love with the window that looks out on the parking lot. They are, on the whole, much easier than my cats were, so it should be a peaceful few months. It's nice to have cats again for a while.

Yay for kitties! :kitten: My baby, Tempest, is six-ish and completely grey. He is the handsomest thing, although he is pretty chubby.
Actually we had him to the vet today. We had to switch his food. When we went there,
's landlords from his old apartment, two really sweet gentleman were there picking up their cat. They have a very old Siamese cat who had a heart attack last night.
He's fine though, but apparantly he has to have a lot of medication, now.
The nurses were telling us that one of them has a cat with asthma and she trained him to sit still in her lap for 45 seconds to TAKE A PUFFER!!! Can you imagine?! 45 seconds of inhaling in a puffer mask over his face! Amazing! If you're interested in frugal living, minimalism and and
