Freaking Out
I just freaked out at the vets... well, maybe upset is a better word. I had to take a "sample" for our oldest dog since they couldn't get one during his annual checkup on Friday. So I asked about our youngest dog that hasn't ate since Sunday night. I get so worried over my furbabies!
I think its the heat, but it could his new food. Of course, I'm worried its something else thats serious.
I wish I wasn't so emotional over little things... I really think he is OK, but can't even ask about it at the vet without freaking. Vet tech was real nice & got me a tissue... they can see him tomorrow if he won't eat tonight. Ran to Walmart, picked up the other food & some lamb & rice she mentioned... Hope he eats tonight, should be cooler today.
She also mentioned mixing some Gatorade in his water. Wonder how much, may need to call back... should have asked. Does anyone know about mixing Gatorade for doggies? I have 32oz & 64oz... would he be more likely to drink a certain flavor? Worry...worry.

I would mix it 1/4 Gatorade to 1 cup of water. With it being flavored he may drink all of it, which would help! Good luck! I completely understand, I get upset over anything with animals!

Poor doggy! I'm the same way with our furbabies. I don't have advice about the Gatorade, but please update us with how he's doing.

Checked on him at lunch... doesn't look like he feels any better. Wouldn't eat his normal treat or drink the Gatorade water, but did drink some fresh water. I left the bowl with the Gatorade out for him, maybe he will drink it later. DH is getting worried too! Planning to take him to vet if he doesn't eat tonight.
baxjul... Thanks for the "how to"!

My doggie is feeling much better, acting more like his silly self.
Had our visit to the vet yesterday, but seem to improve before his appointment. He was very upset while he was being checked... guess certain areas are sore right now. He did calm down once they were finished.
Vet is treating him with antibiotic in case its bacterical, but not sure what it is. Seems it could be any number of things... a virus, blockage, etc. He wasn't dehydrated, blood test negative, counts (CB? maybe I forget) normal. Also giving him a Pepcid & another pill for his stomach/digestive tract. He is eating some, but not as much as normal. Doesn't like taking the antibiotic at all, must taste
... even when we mix it in with food, he spits part of it out. Still we're getting most of it down after several tries! I think our biggest problem will be keeping him from playing too much.
So glad to see him wanting to play... hope he doesn't over do it!

Glad he's starting to feel better. We really get attached to our pets don't we.

Glad to hear baby is feeling better. Our lab Dixie will stop eating sometimes when it's too hot. As long as they are drinking plenty of water, most times they are O.K., and resume eating again in their own time. It's hard not to worry though.
