Help with agressive biting puppy
OK, let me first tell you that I am not new to puppy behavior and have trained and raised several nice pups. But Molly is a challenge for certain! She is biting/ nipping alot! While I realize this is normal puppy behavior, when you try to stop her or tell her to sit, no bite, etc she seems to become even more agressive. she starts to snap and snarl and carry on something awful. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how did you break the dog of it? I do have her signed up for puppy class but she can not start until she is 10 weeks old ( she was 8 weeks yesterday) DH thinks the shock collar is the way to go but I just hate those things! She is working on house training now and getting better at that. I walk her several times a day and we are working on the commands of come, sit and down. She learned those very quickly and loves getting treats for obeying. But treats dont work for biting! I have spent a fortune already on puppy toys and chews so she has plenty to bite on for her teeth. This is more the agressive barking and biting when she wants to play or if she is all wound up. It is making it very difficult to play with her or to enjoy her when you are constantly telling her no bite while your hands, feet, etc are bleeding. It seems as if she gets more frantic as you go forward trying to stop her. Any advice or hints? Anyone else have an agressive pup?

Bella could get like that. As she got older we would roll her over until she got calm. If yours is little you can pick them up and roll them over on their backs. It took awhile with Miss Bella, she 100% all breeds of terriers and hard headed as a rock. But very smart.
The biting thing we would yelp like a litter mate would if she bit too hard and that seem to calm her down. We also seperated her from us if the behavior got too bad.
Patience and heavy sighs were in order around here for several months! Good luck!

We have a new puppy too, a great pyrenes. She isn't even 3 months old yet, but weighs 30 lbs, and will weigh 125 lbs by the time she is 10 months old. She does't snarl but when playing she tends to bite your hands and feet. We say no bite, and if she continues she we act like we are crying and hurt. She has been good overall and she sleeps in ahugh crate in our bedroom and now sleeps through the night. She goes to bed at 10-11 pm and sleeps until DH's alrm goes off at 5:45, then she is ready to start her day. We are trying very hard to let her know we are the boss since she is going to be a very huge house dog. Good luck.

I would try Bitter Apple. It comes in a spray or a gel (your choice) I would put it wherever she more than likely bites and give her a taste of that. Not sure if it would work but it's worth a shot. It kept my puppy from chewing on the leg of my chair! lol

When my dog was a puppy he would try to be very dominant, biting, stubborn, you name it. If he ever became aggressive in any way, I would immediately put him on his back. (even after he reached 75 lbs). That action teaches the dog that you are the Alpha and he is submissive to you.
