Default Saying good bye today to Cocoa Bear

Cocoa Bear is my older dog. He was 14 in July and is a collie shephard mix. About a month or so ago we had a tumor removed from his backside. It was not cancerous however he never really picked up after that operation. He has not eaten anything for the last several days and is throwing up. Barely moving and just not well. I have realized for the last month or so that we were getting close to the end of his years and unfortunately, today is the day. I am taking him to the vet this afternoon to help him on his way. I know this is the right, mature and responsible thing to do but it is still difficult. I am not looking for any advice here, just letting out my feelings a bit. Bear with me! He has been a great dog, a great friend and a valuable part of my family. He will be greatly missed here

I'm so sorry, but you're doing the right thing. I've been there, and it's never pleasant.

I'm so sad for you. We have an 11 year old dog and know that we'll be going through the same thing in the future. I don't think I'll handle it very well. I'll be thinking about you today-

Big Hugs. It just hurts to the bone even when it is the correct thing to do. Can someone go with you-maybe to drive you home, hand you the kleenex, give you a hug??

It's never easy, both of our big dogs lived to about 14. Seems a little unfair doesn't it. (((hugs)))

Hugs to you! I just put my older dog to sleep two weeks ago. He was 13 1/2. It really is the best thing we can do for them. I will be thinking of you....

I find this the hardest part of being a pet owner - they become family and it's so hard to say goodbye. My thoughts are with you.
