Default Ewww! A tick! A tick! HELP!

I just discovered a GIGANTIC tick on my dog. The thing is like the size of a grape. She is spastic and won't let me near it so I'm going to have to wait for dh to get home to help me. YUCK!! Will it fall off at some point today? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Oh--and I JUST put frontline on her yesterday. ARRRRGGGHHHHH.

Is the head buried? If so, get some tweezers, and very gently pull it out. We get them all the time down here.

My 3 yr old daughter got a tick on her this past summer. Luckily we got it off before it really got buried in her, but it was a he** of a time getting that sucker off! I was horrified (I'd never seen one before) and I still get the heebie jeebies thinking about it!

If it falls off, start putting peroxide on the spot several times a day and it will clean it and boil the head out.

    Good luck.

It may fall off by itself (I found one, huge and engorged, rolling around on my laundry room floor) BUT you can't count on that.

I read that if you put a blob of liquid soap on it, then wait a few minutes, you can use tweezers to pull it right off. It's worth a try.
