Question Hey dog lovers, need your help. . .

We are helping DD2 and SIL move from Oregon to Houston, TX for grad school. She has 2 large dogs, one, Bella the St. Bernard is 130#'s of love and kisses.:surprise:

My question is this--Do they make kennel/crates large enough to hold Miss Bella??

( I have one from my GSD, but it would take a shoe horn and lots of muscle to squeeze her in this one and it's an Extra Large Crate.)

I'm not too happy about her moving. Now all 3 DD's live several states away or should I say Texas will be the closest, other 2 and grandbabies are on the east coast. Will you folks in Texas send her home in a couple of years, PLEASE.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they make crates for the x-large breeds. Hang on, I'm looking.....

    this might help.

Are you looking for a crate for sleeping/etc. or just for moving?

Thanks Bumplett! We're still trying to figure it out. DH and DD will be going alone from Fresno to Houston with just the moving truck. There is no way 2 people and 2 dogs can fit in the cab. So we are trying to decide if it would be safe for dogs to rotate in a crate/kennel in the back of moving truck, or should both be in crates. Or just what to do. If dogs were lap size life would be so much easier. SIL misses all this fun, he is a commercial diver and will be working. Our vet does not advise to fly dogs unless they are in the cabin. Any other suggestions?

My opinion: No way would it be safe for either of them to be out of a crate -

BUT - is the back of the moving truck ventilated? I wouldn't think that would work ???

Or, can they rent a moving truck that has a larger cab?

Not sure if the trucks come with larger cabs. I agree on the dogs both being in crates. They could do this if DH followed DD with their truck. But that means we are taking 3 vehicles from Portland to Fresno. I'm staying in Fresno visiting my sister and she is coming back with me. I have a feeling this is going to be interesting.

Robin, BiMart carries crates and usually has good prices on them.

FWIW, I have seen anything from a Chihuahua to a Newfie in a crate. I have seen some dogs the size of small ponies in crates. The come in ALL sizes!

My dh made ours from 2X 4's and welded wire & our 2 huskies fit perfectly with room to spare. It might be a cheaper option..especially if you might have some of the materials already on hand.

I recommend the this one http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...2.2854405&sr=1

It specifically states the giant size is good for St. bernards. I used this brand to fly my dog cargo from Nebraska to England and it's really sturdy. I just put shredded newspaper on the bottom in case there were any "spills"

Petsmart also has free shipping on orders over $50
