    Question My little kitties!!!!

How come one of them purrs, but the other one doesn't? MY kittie purrs and is all trying to nurse on my quilt when I go to bed, and DD's kittie doesn't even purr. Why is that?

Our Snow purrs but our White does not. Go figure..............White (they are now 7 months old) nurses on a fuzzy rug in the bathroom. Snow follows me around like a puppy would.

When Prudence and Pandora where kittens, Pandora purred but Prudence did not.

Blue didn't purr much as a ketten but he sorta does now. Usually it sounds more like a snore than a purr!

Both of my cats when kittens I thought didn't purr. Then I held my finger lightly under their necks when petting them. Yup they were purring. Just couldn't hear them.

    Might want to try it.

I had a coo-er also. My current ones both purr, one loudly, and one where you have to feel her chest or throat to know that she is. I don't think it means much of anything - just different.

One of the cats I had growing up had such a loud purr as a tiny kitten we named him Rumble. He sounded like a lawn mower.

It does seem to vary a lot from one cat to another.

My kitty purrs, but I have had cats that you just couldn't hear it. Lexi is SO spoiled. She is sitting between me and the computer purring away...We had to quit letting her sleep with us, because she would get between us and push us apart...she thinks she has to be the center of attention ALL the time, and we usually cater to her. She's a spoiled baby.

Now I can explain it, the sound a pigeon makes, lol. My Wampa cat does not meow but he "coos" all the time. That is the only language he uses and I always try to explain to people what the noise is and I could never really explain it. I used to have a cat that only purred when he sucked his "thumb" at night. He would lay on my shoulder, knit in my hair, and suck on his paw. He did this every night for 6 years, then I had my son and he never did it again made me sad because this was our special bonding time every night. When we first brought him home he did this at 3 am and it was dark so we had no idea what he was doing. I thought "great, I got a neuritic cat that is going to have bald paws from sucking on them" but he never had any hair loss or anything, we were just told that he was probably weaned too soon and this is how he made up for it. I miss my Buster cat!

We always kid around saying we are going to take our cat's purrer out. He purrs so loud you can sometimes hear him from another room. He is the loudest purring cat I have ever owned. He is 15 now and has cataracts and sometimes bumps into things(poor thing) but he is a very lovable kitty.
