Fixed my cat's digestive trouble!!!!

So, when I moved in with my boyfriend, I also adopted his 3 cats. One of which is Jessie. He's 13 years old and had serious digestive issues. He would throw up food every single day. Then when you would feed him again he'd binge because he was so hungry. After a month of this, I decided to take matters into my own hands. (my boyfriend assured me that nothing would help...HA!)

Jessie's New Diet.

I buy a pack of boneless chicken meat (doesn't matter what body parts), bake it and then grind it up in the food processor. When I feed him, he gets 2scoops of ground chicken, several spoons of chicken broth over it and then I fry 1 egg and pour the yolk over the chicken.

It works perfectly. He has completely stopped being sick and doesn't binge anymore.

With the success I decided to try feeding the same stuff to Tasha...she's 11 and had kidney failure several years ago. She lost a ton of weight and drinks around 8 oz of water / day now. She's super duper skinny...well, after a month of eating this same diet with Jessie, she's finally put on a tiny bit of weight. 1st weight she's gained in years, according to my boyfriend.

I'm so happy I can't stand it. Healthy Kitties are the best!

me too! such a relief.

Our other 2 are both young and healthy, so they are easy.

oh! also, I give the upstairs 2 IAMS digestive care dry food...just a bit in the morning. (they eat their egg dinner at night.)

Yay! I'm glad your cat is feeling better. My dog had some serious digestive issues earlier in the year. I fed him rice and cottage cheese for months until he finally just refused to eat it. Now he's on a "low residue digestive formula" food and so far so good....

Good to hear you helped out your kitties. Have one cat I need to be careful what I feed. She definately has a sensitive tummy.

I am glad your cats are doing better however I really encourage you to run this by your vet. I believe there is a specific mineral that cats need to have that is included in commercial food but not as easily provided in a homemade diet.

They still get dry food (Iams digestive care) which provides the Taurine and other stuff that they can't get.

Kudos to you for the diligence and effort! Also, thanks for sharing the solution - I'll have to try this on my mom's cat (14 yr old), who also has a binge-and-barf problem. So far, the best solution we'd found was to feed him small amounts every 3 or 4 hours, but that is awkward, and I'm not sure whether is really healthy.
