Oh wow, what a week this will be!
My kitten Aleister is getting neutered on Wednesday. I feel so guilty leaving him at the vets all day. I'm also worried that he won't be the same. He's very hyper but when he isn't he's so cuddly and cute, I hope he stays that way after. But the worst part, my cat Bella has an eye infection. She had one as a kitten, which did affect her eyesight and left her with a lazy eye. This time is started with her left eye. Dh told me to wait it out, it may get better, and it did. Yesterday she could open both eyes fine, no gunky stuff. Now this morning I wake up and her right eye looks infected, the left looks fine. I'm not sure what to do. I think I may leave it until tuesday and if its not better, I'll call the vets and see if they can take a look at it when I bring the other in as well. But vet bills are so expensive....ugh.
Anyone else notice that these things all happen at once??Debts

Hi Rachel
I have two cats as well and one is intent on using up all of our retirement money. He has been diabetic for 5 years and now has chronic renal failure. We have to give him insulin, fluids, blood pressure med's, the list goes on. He suffered a mini stroke last week so we do know we are on borrowed time. He will be 19 on May 31. One of the best things you can do with the gunky eyes are to clean them so that the cat won't claw at it and get it even worse. I hope that the vet will give you a two for one visit. Sounds like she might need antibiotic cream.
As for you kitten...my Bill, the 19 year old was neutered when he was 6 months or so. He is soooo loving and sits on my lap 24 hours a day if I let him. Don't worry about him...you are saving yourself the terrible odors of the male spraying up your house. The smell is awful. Good luck with the eyes and don't forget to wash your hands...you don't need it. (Not that I have a clue whether you can catch it from a cat!) Mary GW

boy dont i understand. i was going to get lobo fixed until boo had her episode. she also has renal failure, and a $500 vet bill. (and that was after a discount!) so lobo will just have to wait a little while before he gets his turn at the vet.

Yep, everything seems to happen at once.
I have a credit card that is used just for vet bills. I haven't had the dang thing paid off for more than 3 months at a time.
We have 3 more males to get fixed, this spring. They are already starting to wander.
Your baby will be just fine, I think it's harder on us than it is the fur babies!Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

The best thing to do is spay or neuter your animals. There are so many unwanted animals that are euthanized in this country. I have always had my male animals neutered and I think it is the best thing. My cat is 15 and is a lovable and has never sprayed in my house. He is an indoor/outdoor cat and it cuts down on the wandering and fighting with other male cats. The kittens that he doesn't produce over his lifetime will thank you!!!

All of my cats were fixed before they were 3 months old. (2 of them were fixed before 8 weeks...yes, it can be done.) I've never noticed a change in their behavior.
Sorry you're getting hit all at once!!

We had our youngest male dog fixed at 7 months old. DH was very concerned it would change his silly, easy going personality. That was over 2 years ago & he's still as silly as ever. He is a little calmer since he's older now, but that's a good thing. I really think it makes them a better pet (less aggravation/territorial).
I hope your kitty with the eye problem clears up without a vet visit, but I wouldn't wait too long. I don't know why everything seems to happen at once, but I think we've all been there. It couldn't hurt to ask for a discount if both need to see the vet this week.
