Default woo hoo, we saved a puppy!

Dh's friend said they were thinking about getting a dog and asked him what breeds he liked. He said, we like what we like to call combination breeds. Dh showed him petfinder.com and he was hooked.
They went to a shelter yesterday and brought home an alaskan malumute/ boxer mix named Bailee.
(I am aware that shelter dogs are not for everyone, but Dh knew they were looking for a bigger dog and they do not have children and have a huge fenced in yard and they weren't picky about the breed so a shelter would be great place for them to look.)

They texted us a picture yesterday and thanked us for showing them how to rescue a dog, that they felt great about it.
    Yay!!!

What a wonderful act of kindness from your DH to his friend and to that puppy.

Boxers are very loyal dogs and great with kids. I'm not too familiar with the Malimut breed but the combination must be gorgeous.

    Congratulations to them all.

I am a firm believer in rescuing animals. Both my babies are rescue babies and they are the sweetest pair ever! Congrats to both you and Bailee's new "parents"!!

That is great! Shelter dogs and cats are the best. Your friend is saving a life and will be greatly rewarded by a loving devoted furbaby.

I've had full breed dogs and mutts and to me, the mutts were smater, healthier and had better personalities.
I'll never get a dog from anywhere BUT a shelter again.

getting a rescue pet is one of the best things you can do<3
all of our *4* cats are rescues
I find them to be sweeter, more loving. appreciative pets
my parents just recently adopted two abused dogs who are settling in QUITE nicely
plus a lot of times pet store pets are from pet mills, and a lot of animal cruelty goes into many of them
and I for one cannot support something like that

Kudos!!!! One of the best dogs I ever owned was a pound puppy!!! Her name was Misty and we had her for 16 years before she passed. We now have Daisy and we adopted her when she was 2 from a family that thought she was a naughty dog. They were wrong, she's a great dog...they were just bad pet owners!

Yay!!! Stories like this make my happy in my heart. All of my kitties are rescues including one that CBG adopted because he said he was so ugly no one else would ever adopt him adn he couldn't bear the thought of him spending his whole life at the shelter. (Jessie really is ugly, but he's sooooo sweet!)

Adoption is definitely the way to go!!
