    Default Puppy training book recommendations?

After 2 months of trying everything we can to deal with aggressive bahavior with our Lexi, we've decided to find her ahome that doesn't hav elittle kids, 7+ only. She just doesn't like the littler kids.

So.... dh decided that we have to get a baby and raise her with our kids. The 2.5 yo just isn't tolerant of little kids, not patient at all.

With a baby, we don't have any ingrained habits to deal with, we can mold her to our family. But we need to do it right!

    Meet our new baby!

She is 12 weeks, and I get to pick her up on Saturday. This will ease the loss of Lexi for the kids too.

I feel horrible to give up on her, but we can't trust her at all with our 4yo. Lexi and dd will play fetch and it's all good. The Lexi decides she's done. DD will go to give her a pat on the head, or pet her, and Lexi lunges. She's tried to bite her face twice. And that is enough. We don't want Lexi to become agressive and vicious, so we decided to find her a new home.

BUT I NEED a good reference book on training. This little gal is a schnoodle. She'll be an active dog, and very trainable and needs to be challenged mentally. So I want to do this right, and train her into a great family dog. So far in her life, she hasn't barked at all..lol. So she's quiet. She loves being outdoors. Is a little shy, but warms up to people. She is a snuggler too.

So we really want this to work out. We want her to be a good girl for us....and a good part of that responsibility lies with us.

    We're stuck for names too!

We like Brooke, Belle, and Rebel. I kinda want to stay with 1 syllable. Any other suggestions? Nothing too prissy, dh won't go for it..lol.

She's very cute! We had a dog that found a new home in December because she bit my son 1/4" away from his eye. YIKES. I know how sad it is.

Good luck with your new pup! I would recommend a trainer. Not sure of a book to recommend, though.

The ones from Ceasar Milan are good ones. But I would recommend a good trainer and puppy obedience classes. It is helping me alot with Molly and also helps to have someone to talk any frustrations out with. Well worth the time and money in my book. Good luck. She is a cutie

There's few really good trainers here that offer in home training. So I'm going to give that a shot. Their prices weren't too bad either!

"The Art of Raising a Puppy" by the monks to New Skete is a good one. If you can afford a private trainer (I do this a s a side job) it is worth it. If not, it is ESSENTIAL to take your pup to a training class. These classes provide more than just obedience work; socialization is very important too.
