Fertility issues?
It seems pretty dead in here, but if anyone wanders in...anyone else have fertility issues? I have Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome and I can't get pregnant easily. If you have gotten pregnant, how did you do it? I'm interested in the responses.

First off, big hugs. My Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) thinks I may have PCOS- a mild case. I also have the "joy" of endometriosis.
I haven't gotten pregnant yet. One thing I learned through my hours of research is that ladies with PCOS definately have a harder time getting pregnant. Their eggs tend to have a tougher shell. So even strong swimmers can have a hard time getting through.
I'm trying to get pregnant with IUI's. I'm trying two more (total of 3) before moving onto IVF ICSI in the Czech Republic. DH and I chose the CR because the clinic is world known to be good and the price is $4,000 which is a steal.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you'd like to know some fertility resourses!Wife to Air Force DH for 7 years.

Many hugs to you! And may I also send babydust your way, if that's what you are wishing for! I too have polycystic ovary syndrome. Here's my story.....
After years of hormonal birth control (depo and the pill), we decided to try to start our family. After 3 months and no period, I went back to the doctor. After blood tests and ultra sounds, PCOS was the diagnosis.
I tried 4 cycles of clomid and never had a period or a pregnancy. So off to the fertility clinic we went. More tests, uggh.
We did one cycle of injectibles (I can't remember the name, only that they were sub-cutaneous). The doctor was preparing us for IVF if I overproduced. Ironic, huh? I hadn't been able to produce eggs of my own in over a year and he was worried about over production.
So we got the phone call that I hadn't over produced and that we should take our trigger shot and "try" at home. Then the 2 week wait began.
I was sure I wasn't pregnant. I was prepping my husnabd for multiple cycles for trying. I started to nose around on adoption sites.
Then I took the HPT 1 day before my dr appointment. I was pregnant! I was dumbfounded! And I then I had a large beta number. So I started thinking about multiples.....twins, maybe?
Yup, twins it was! I now have a 5 year old son and daughter as a result of that one cycle. I am very grateful to modern medicine. I'm not sure I would be a mom if I were living 30 years ago instead of now.
Another PCOS success story for you: My SIL also has PCOS. She got pregnant with her first daughter through the use of clomid. Then child #2 and #3 happended with zero medical intervention.
If I'm reading your signature right, you want to lose 120 pounds. I just want to share that I was over 200lbs when I got pregnant with the kiddos. And now I am serious baout weight loss and have goal of 100 pounds off.
Best wishes to you. I found comfort in Carolyn's rubby ducky boards while TTC , during pregnancy, and after the kiddos arrived.Jill

This is a tough thing to go through.
We tried and tried on our own, then saw a specialist, I did my last IUI and was sure I wasn't pregnant because it was a bad month, my levels weren't right, my eggs weren't mature enough so I started the process of IVF, made the appointment with the clinic had all the paperwork but wouldn't ya know 2 weeks later I was pregnant with triplets...
It is a hard road to follow BUT I saw don't give up.

We had secondary IF. I got pg easily with my DS. When he was 5 we started ttc again. We were both healthy and fairly young - late 20's... but after two years nothing. WE were dx. with endometriosis and MF and told we had almost no chance of pg on our own. We did IVF and had dd two years ago. I got pg again last year which was a total surprise, but I had a m/c... I think I'm done... it's just too hard. I've got two healthy kids and I'm happy with that even though I always wanted more.

DH and I have been trying to get pregnant for 10 months now, at 36 I don't feel like I can continue to take a wait and see approach, but I'm very nervous about entering the "world of infertility" - I have no idea what betas or anything else is!
We have a neice and nephew adopted from Korea and that experience and more have really opened us up to adoption. DH is quite a bit older, 47 and I am worried about being able to adopt because of his age and financial issues.
Either way, it's time for us to get a move on. But my thoughts are with you all, if I had any baby dust, and clearly I don't! I'd send it your way!
