Pregnancy is For the Birds
Hello 4:45 a.m. Nice to see you. Well, not really. I'm just trying to be pleasant.
I have been up since 9ish yesterday morning. I can't seem to fall asleep tonight. Between baby kicking me in the ribs and my left leg aching like a constant toothache, I'm not exactly able to sleep very much.
Nausea, backaches, Braxton-Hicks contractions, bleeding gums, heartburn, fatigue... Why some women are willing to do this 15 or more times is beyond me. As much as I love my husband and my baby, I'm thinking two to three will be my max, unless God has other plans.
Well, time to pop some Tylenol and try again. Wish me luck!

~Pregnancy insomnia stinks! 90% of your body screams at you to go to sleep but that other 10% makes it impossible to do so. Ugh.
I've read that it's our bodies way of preparing us for the interrupted sleep and lack of sleep when the baby comes. It actually does work for that purpose so at least we suffer for a good cause, right?
Oh, and as far as having more goes, each pregnancy will go by faster because you'll be distracted by and busy with your other kids. I'm on my third and even though I've been experiencing all the symptoms I can distract myself with something much easier to make the time fly by and the symptom pass. For me with this one, the weeks past 14(the last 5)have simply flown by in a blur. That's how I think some women can go on to have many children.~~Constance

Oh, I feel so badly for you, LN. Some people have the worst pregnancies. Hope the Tylenol works!

I was blessed with easy pregnancies and deliveries. I could have had more, but three is enough.
Try to enjoy it as much as possible. You may miss it later, I know I do.

I don't remember anything like that. I do remember the second one pressing on the sciatic nerve and almost going down from "spaghetti leg". I also remember thinking he must be doing presses against my rib cage.
The girl was gentler-kicked more softly, felt fluttery (always said she was wallpapering).
The reason woman have many is because labor gives you amnesia. You take 1 look at the real human life you just created and marvel. You fall in love like you never fell before. Not for a BF,DH or anyone. Be patient.

LN I am sure after you hold that bundle of joy you will forget everything I know I did. When I had my first and she caused me to have the worst morning sickness late in my pregnancy I had none in the beginning and she became a cross country runner after kicking me like a football player the whole time. My second 14 years later which I was a runner by then and became pregnant at 35 and she was breech and had to be turned twice and I was induced will probably be a soccer player when she grows upbecause she kicked the dickens out of me. Yep both are girls and on top of that I am very allergic to medicine and couldnt take anything for pain. So I meditated and had a natural birth for both. I did have a muscle relaxer for the turning of my last due to her being breech but they had to give me something for the reaction to the muscle relaxer which was not expected since I had one when I was younger for a hip problem but as a person gets older they can become more allergic to things. But when you see that tiny face it is sooo worth it. You will do great just when you feel like a nap take it your body will let you know when you need it. Some times you will fall asleep at the weirdest times. Heck I still do.

Hope you can get some sleep and rest! This pregnancy has my whole sleep schedule skewed too- it's 4 am right now and I'm wide awake.
I've been having contractions, acid reflux and my stomach burns from all the stretching. But since I had such a hard time getting pregnant, I'm thankful for all of these symptoms!Wife to Air Force DH for 7 years.

I think I managed to achieve four hours of sleep last night... lying on my couch with three cushions propped in between my legs to keep my sore leg elevated. That seemed to help. The leg pain lasted until well into the next day, and then finely went away. I know what causes it -- it's actually pain coming from my back that is travelling down my leg. My friend (co-worker, chiropractor) calls it pseudo-sciatica pain. I will have him adjust me on Monday when I go into work.
Yesterday wasn't too bad, though by 5pm I was ready to pass out, I was so tired. I get one or two bouts of no sleep every week or so, so it hasn't been that bad.
The nausea returned this trimester. It was so bad the first trimester -- I don't vomit but I feel like absolute garbage. God bless Diclectin! I'm also getting the restless legs, which I can pretty much predict what days they will come.

I remember those days/nights well!
Sorry for your discomfort, but I have to be honest, I'd give anything to be able to be pregnant again, so try to keep your eyes on the prize and remember that not everyone is as blessed to be able to have children (or more children) and what a miracle it all is. Soon enough, you'll be holding that baby in your arms and the rest will be distant memory. My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Are you taking a prenatal? If so, how much magnesium does it have? Are you having swelling as well? Can you try an Epsom salt bath or try a magnesium supplement? Magnesium is needed for many reactions in the body and can become easily depleted during pregnancy - it is also needed to make melatonin which induces sleep. Also, do you drink/eat dairy much - it's good for calcium, but can put the cal/mag balance out of whack!

Bless you. I had pregnancy insomnia with both of mine. Lying on the couch and listening to Pink Floyd got me through those wakeful nights. My doctor suggested benydryl for the worst nights. I was really afraid to take anything though.
Try a really dark room and soothing music or even an environmental cd (ocean, wind, rain, etc.). Good luck. The epsom salt bath would be a great idea right before sleeping. My ds 7yrs swears by it.Truck paid off 12/07(paid in full)
