I don't remember being sensitive to this when I was pregnant with my children. I was glad to have people excited for me....especially the grandparents. I never had a problem with a sweet little old lady touching my little one. I was happy to see the baby smile and make a little old woman's day. My girls were all healthy.....not one of those little touches harmed them.

I so agree.... the worst is yet to come... when this lady at a store came walking down the isle toward me when my baby was little she was sneezing and blowing her nose.... and then she proceeded to come right for him... owwww how cute... how old is he can i hold him... WTH I looked at her and said NO... and she got very offended and stormed away... seriously I love babies and will look and smile as they go by key word LOOK not touch... babies are not toys... why arent they so nice when your 2 year old is throwing a fit in the middle of the store... where is the owww and awws then? Leave babies be... and also babies in the making as well ;-)

I felt very uncomfortable when strangers would try to touch my belly. There were a few that I didn't mind though. The worse for me was when an old lady publicly embarrassed me in a fleamarket. She thought I was 13 and kept asking me personal questions! I was pregnant with my second and my son was a toddler and I was 22, not 13! I still get carded for lottery tickets sometimes and I am 30, so I guess I must look young... When someone tried to touch one of my babies one time I told them it wasn't a petting zoo lol! For me the embarrassing questions were the worse thing. Not too many strangers tried to touch me or the babies. I don't ever try to touch pregnant strangers, but my friends were always willing to let me feel their bellies.

LOL! You would think so----but this kid is a dream kid. (he turned 24 the other day, yikes) He never even went through the terrible twos. He's now working on his doctorate in Psychology.

What the priest asked (it was the day they read the story of Esau and Jacob --the twins--fighting in the womb) if there were two in there fighting (he was a 9#12 oz baby, and I am 5'2", so I was BIG). I told him no, they said there was just one. He raised his eyebrows and then made the sign of the cross over ME. LOL!

    Anyway--not to highjack Nada's thread.........

OMG, I love this thread. Have been laughing all the way. I totally understand how people feel about touching a pregnant belly. Thankfully I did not have that experience but I would never touch someone who was pregnant. Nada, you are not fat, you have a person hijacking your body-lol. Fluffy sounds cuter too. As for baby touching, I don't mind if you want to say hello. What freaked me out was when I was at a supermarket and I turned to get milk and all of a sudden there was this lady at my cart. I nearly ran her over to get away from her. She had the nerve to say don't worry Mom. Ok, I do not know you and you appear by my cart with my newborn and I should not be concerned? I don't think so. With other people's children, I will tell strangers that their children are cute or wave if they wave to me, maybe say hi if they do. That is it. With friends, I follow their cue. Some people have different parenting ideas and that is fine and some people have different ideas of what you should do with their children. I have learned that you can not tell a parent anything but positive things about their children, unless their monster hurt your baby. Then it's game on-lol.

    Speaking of pregnant bellies -

Who saw the latest Glee? The unwed mother dance scene was hilarious! I mean, ladies circling their swollen bellies around each other - all I could think of watching that was "OMG NADA WOULD FREAK!!!"

Hey, I just wanted to add that even though you do not want pictures posted of your belly take one or two for yourself. I was bound and determined not to have pics of me while pregnant and now regret it. I don't have any pics to show my own children and soon to be grandchild what I looked like and that I actually was their mom. I although did know the feeling and didn't want others touching me either. Personal space is a biggie with me to this day. Touching the baby is an other personal thing too. I was ok with people I knew but with total strangers noooooo way!!!! Good luck!

dh's sister just had a little girl about a month ago and his other sister is due in a couple of weeks. There is no way I would touch their bellies. It is a personal space thing, I like mine and I give others theirs. With my other 3 I only remember a few times family would rub my belly, mostly my mom. With this one I am 19 weeks along so I don't have a belly yet.

With the touching thing I am so with you guys. Do not touch my child!! I don't mind looking but don't touch. I like the idea of a sign saying no touching. Going to have to remember that.
