Diapers? Check! Diaper Covers? Ummm...
Okay, so the Freecycle gods have smiled down upon us. We have been blessed with 5 plain ol' cloth diapers, 6 velcro fastened fitted cloth diapers, and 10 prefold diapers. Grand total is 21 diapers, 13 of which I should be able to adjust to fit baby as long as I need to.
None of them require inserts that I am aware of, nor are there any that are waterproof. So I wonder whether I need the liners, inserts or diaper covers. And if so, how many I should be looking for.
*FYI: All pictures are as close as I could find on the Internet as to what I have. None are exact. I didn't take any of them.If you're interested in frugal living, minimalism and and

well the pre folds can be used as inserts for more absorbancy as needed. I would say you need some more diapers because newborns go to the bathroom around 12-14 times a day and i dont think you want to be washing every night but if you so I would say maby 4 -6 diaper covers if they are the vinyl ones. They can be re used after a quick rinse in the sink if needed between washings.

~You should be ok if you wash every other day. Are you using diaper pins or snappis for the prefold and flat dipes?
If you plan to wash every other day you may only need 2-3 covers. I used ones made of PUL. It's a treated fabric so it feels like fabric. I hate the feel of vinyl and plastic pants! You can make your own covers for about $4 a piece(Joann's sells PUL now!)or purchase for $10-15 each. I used the Air Flow snap covers from ME and I recommend the style. My kids didn't get rashes! You can also used wool knit or fleece "soakers". I haven't tried those but they seem to be popular so they must work. Fleece and wool wraps would be very cheap to make if you used old clothes!
I didn't use liners in dipes until the baby was a couple of months old. They're changed so often and go so little that I didn't think it was necessary. You will definitely want inserts as the baby gets older though. I had a bunch of inserts but I also used folded up flat dipes and old washcloths. A cheapo pack of washcloths or cut up cotton tees will work for inserts when you need them.~~Constance
