Are your children named after family members?

Our sons middle name is my dh's late fathers name.

My middle son's middle name is the same as my dad's and my youngest's middle name is the same as my great grandfather's.

DD middle name is my mom's middle name and my confirmation name. We wanted to use my middle name (also my grandmother's name) but DDs first name starts with the same sound.

If this baby is a boy, he'll have DHs middle name as his middle name. If it's a girl, she'll have my middle name as hers.

We have 4 kids and they all have thier own 1st names BUT all 4 have middle names of a grand or great grand parent.
They are all individuals even though 3 of them are triplets and they are names after someone else. I think it is a great honor to have the name of a loved one.
I have the middle name of an aunt of mine because I was born on her birthday and my sister's middle name is Ann after the middle name of one of my grandmother and the 1st name of my other grandmother.

In my family it is hard to find a name that someone already doesn't have... It took awhile for us to come up with the last three.. We knew what we were naming dd even if she was a boy.. It would have been Roary Ky instead of Roari Ki....

DD#1 Roari Ki ---No one at all, I don't think there is another one like her. Spelled ROARI like it is because the Lion King had just come out and we thought it was "cute" and Ki because I knew a Kyle that went by Ky and I just changed the spelling to the "feminine" form. Actually there is no feminine for Ky... I just made that up..We did think about Arora, but thought it could have been shortened to Roari any way, so why not just call her that...
DS#1 Craig Matthew---- No one I thought, then remembered a guy I went to school with was this name-we always called him Matt, so it never occured to me until later.
DS#2 Jared Daniel---No one, except he thinks he was named after his gpa Jerry. I won't correct him any more since he has died and that was Jareds "best gpa". His death was really hard on Jared.
DD#2 Valory RaeAnn----Valory was born the month after invading Iraq ?? and we spelled her name with the word VALOR in it in recognition of the men who are over there in valor... RaeAnn is my moms middle name and DH moms middle name...

Valerie in WA--- My mother in laws name when she was born was Beverly Ann too... Since then she has changed her middle name to her first, but that is too funny... We already had one of her grandkids with the middle name Ann, so we just combined our moms middle names for Valory RaeAnn..... To funny for me to have a Valory, and her to have a grandma named (at one time) Beverly Ann....
