    Question Anyone use IVF?

    Just curious if anyone has gone through Invitro-Fertilization?  I have two friends that have and they had success the first time.  I've got a Dr's appointment this week so I'm 75% sure that I'm going to use it.  Our insurance doesn't cover it, but I believe that I'll be able to get a reduced rate.

    I didn't.... but my brother and his ex-wife did. She got pregnent on the first try. They took out 3 eggs and implanted 2 back and they were blessed with a sweet healthy baby boy who is no 3 1/2.

    Doesn't this procedure cost like thousands of dollars just for one try?

    Yes, it can cost $10k. However, my Dr. had been selected for a study on a new method of taking progesterone. I was going to be part of the study, but then I didn't. So, his nurse advised me to still come in since he was going to give those of us who didn't have a chance to participate in the study the same reduced rate. My insurance will cover ultrasounds and all the lab work. So, the cost is suppose to be about $5k. This is at least doable. Double that amount isn't right now.

    I didn't use IVF that would have been our next step.
    We did use IUI and have triplets because of that.

    I say if you and your husband want to and can afford it I would go for it just be prepared it doesn't always work for everyone so it can be a huge disappointment.

    We did 6 rounds of IUI before we decided to stop the treatments and move on to adoption.

    We were not willing to take the chance with IVF and spend that kind of money and not have it guarenteed that I would get pregnant, at least wih adoption we are guarenteed a child some time in the near future.
