Question How long did you have to stay in the hospital after the birth of your child?

Years ago, when my kids were born you had to stay in the hospital for 7 days. You weren't even allowed out of bed until the second day. When our last son was home, I was able to leave the hospital on the eve of the 5th day.

Stayed 3 days with my oldest as we'd had tons of problems, and he was 7 weeks preemie.

Stayed 24 hours with 2nd one-- he was born dead and had to be recusitated.

Stayed 2 hours with dd- just long enough to make sure I wasn't going to hemmorage, and she was healthy.

When I had shane in Germany it was common to stay 10 days. I went home in 2.
When I had Kerry, I had him at 10 pm and went home the next morning.

I was forced to stay 3 days. We could have left the same day or the morning after for each birth, even given the difficult time I had with Logan. But since the insurance would pay for 3 days, the hospital made D%(^ sure they were going to get their 3 days and wouldn't not allow me to leave.

It was hospital policy that new moms stay 3 days after childbirth. At least I got some rest.

3 days with Kathryn (unplanned C-section)
2 days with Lauren (planned C-section, and I was afraid to stay in the hospital over New Years Eve because of the Y2K scare)

They were all born in the evening or late at night. With the 1st two, I went home the next day. Kevin had some "issues". I think we stayed 4 more days.

2 days with dd (straightforward birth).
4 days with ds (unplanned c-section). I could've stayed 5 but I wanted to go home!
