Hyperemesis/ Regalin Pump
Well, last week I spent two days in the hospital, trying to get this contant nausea under control. They sent me home with a Regalin pump-- a small pump attached to my leg with a needle, which gives me a constant supply of medication.
Honestly, today is the first day I've felt any better... and I've only been up for an hour! (Maybe sleeping in has something to do with it!)
Has anyone else had one of these pumps? Anything I should expect? I call in daily to talk to the company who supplies it, and check in with a nurse, so I can always ask them any questions that come up. I've just never heard of anyone else having one of these, so I was curious about "real life" stories.

I've never had one, to be honest, I've never even heard of one. I just want to say I'm glad you're feeling better and I'll say a prayer for you. Morning sickness stinks!

I never have, but I have a friend that has an insulin pump. Yours sounds similar to hers. She's very comfortable with it. She has about 5 feet of tubing between the pump and where it enters the skin. Her pump is about the size of a pager and she wears it on her belt. Or if she's wearing something slinky, she tucks it in the front middle of her bra (she's not well-endowed). At night she sets the pump on the night stand and makes sure not to turn like a rotisserie and get wound up in it.

I'm thankful. I don't remember if I posted in on your thread yesterday, but I was thinking that you are awfully like my sister who has had bouts of hyperemesis and needed hospitalization for it with one of her 6. Really bad morning sickness the other pregnancies.
It's a separate thing from the diabetes.
I'm SO glad you are on that pump. Never heard of one, but I think it sounds MUCH better than trying to control the problem with pills which get sort of lost in the shuffle as things go down and up again.
Otherwise, if you can't hold food down, you can't regulate the sugars.
Here's to you and heres to that new pump thingy.
God bless you and I'm praying the rest of the pregnancy goes without a hitch.

I have never heard of it before, so I have no info, but I hope you are feeling better soon. I am sure being home is better than being in the hospital.

I've never heard of one either, but it sounds great. I've had three close friends or co-workers who have had hyper-emesis, and I think all three of them really could have benefitted. It seems like one of them was in the hospital at least 7 times, and my best friend was in and out all the time for IV hydration.
I wonder if they just aren't in common use around here- I mean, I work at a hospital with a pretty healthy-sized women and children unit, so you'd think I'd have encountered one before. Or maybe they are new.
In any case, it sounds great and I sure hope it is helping you. I agree that it sounds as if it works simlarly to the insulin pumps. I have two co-workers with those, and it sure helps to keep them regulated without having to worry too much about constantly tracking it.
Hope it keeps you feeling well!

To clarify: yes, reglin and insulin are very different, but the pump set-up - the hardware, so to speak - sound similar.
