Manage Morning Sickness
If the joy of pregnancy is tempered by bouts of morning sickness, don't feel alone: Up to 90 percent of pregnant women experience some nausea or vomiting. But there are natural methods to help alleviate your discomfort, says Rebekah Rico Finklea, president of the Midwives Association of Florida.
Eat frequent protein snacks to stabilize your blood sugar. Include one before bed to avoid morning queasiness, and eat a matching carbohydrate snack when you wake. At all costs, avoid an empty stomach.
Drink lemon juice with water.
Try ginger in tea, a capsule, candy, or tincture form.
Take vitamin B6 in liquid or capsule form.
Avoid sugar, white flour, spicy or greasy foods, and processed foods.
Use aromatherapy scents such as citrus, peppermint, and lavender.
If you're pregnant and can't keep fluids or solids down for more than 24 hours, consult your health professional.

That's a nice list of tips for morning sickness.
I'm like Celina~ what I have isn't morning sickness, it's called Hyperemesis Gravida. I'm on a pump 24/7 delivering medication to my system so that I can tolerate any foods at all, and, even with that I still have to take oral meds twice a day.

I had horrible morning sickness for the first four months. I was sick all day, every day. The only way I could keep anything down was to eat things that are hard to throw up---like peanut butter sandwiches.

My mother also had horrible morning sickness - probably Hyperemesis Gravida (she was in the hospital on an IV a few times) although they didn't diagnosis as such - she lost 15 pounds in the first 4 months - and weighed less after I was born than before she was pregnant.
I'm only 8 weeks, but I still feel pretty nauseous most of the time - I have only actually thrown up 4 or 5 times. I feel like I have it pretty good.
The only thing I do hate is the "eat crackers before you get out of bed" advice. I find that I am incredible thirsty when I wake up, and the idea of putting a dry cracker in my mouth when all I want is water just turns my stomach!
I'm going to try the aromatherapy scents you suggested though. I'm a big fac of aromatherapy and I didn't even think to look to see if there were any scents that were recommended.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06) and Oliver Andrew (5/25/12)

I've got it bad this time. The thought of ANY food makes me want to hurl.

I was terribly sick with Ashleigh & took pills for it. I still managed to gain weight, though. Kennedy, I think I *wanted* to throw up once...that's about it.
This time............UG! Sometimes I feel like.."just shoot me now!"
I'm sick all the time. Crackers don't work. I can't stand the *smell* of ginger. ....in fact I can't stand the smell of most anything....including DH.

You know, I've come to the conclusion that it's the hormone supplimentation that makes me sick.

I use progesterone suppositories & a had to start shots over a month ago. Now I'm down to just the one shot a week & the day & get it & for a couple of days after....I feel yucky.
I get my levels tested again on tuesdy & hopefully I'll get to be done....I'm tired of feeling like a big pile of yuck.
I never had to do shots with Miss k, just the suppositories....this time I have to do both. UG. Could be my sickness.....who knows.

Actually, in addition to the generic Emetrol (which helps me a lot!) I have found that it is much better if I just eat less. I will sit down to a bowl of soup, or pasta, and find that if I leave the last four or five bites (hard for me, since I was brought up to eat everything on my plate!) that it is much easier for me to keep the food down. Most of the time I'm still a little hungry, but if I stop eating and instead have a small snack an hour or so later, I throw up a lot less.
And I also don't know if this is just me - but I found that my morning sickness got much worse around 8 weeks, and it is still pretty bad (I'm at 11 weeks now). I'm hoping it will still be better by the 12-14 weeks that the doctor said usually happens.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06) and Oliver Andrew (5/25/12)

Jamee,
Do you have any tips on making the Progesterone shots less painful? I had a friend that participated in a progesterone study to take porgesterone in a tablet form and it was very successful. Hopefully, the FDA will approve it so people don't have to take the shots anymore. I may have to take progesterone shots in a week or so. The size of the needle totally freaks me out. It's two inches and very thick. I've heard that if you warm the progesterone in your hands, that helps.

Nope.
Some nurses do a better job than others.
Yes it's a LONG needle & they have to leave it in and give the medicine over a period of time.......some nurses just let it hang there...others will "prop" it and massage the muscle around the injection. It all hurts.
Then it hurts for DAYS!
Once they hit a nerve & it felt like I had a 3 inch strip of duct tape on my rump for a week! LOL!
I used pills a few years ago & they didn't work well for me. I ended up losing that baby. I wonder if they're working on a new one.
My midwife said there's a gal in her office that is using a cream & they're getting good results with that. I think you rub it on your trunk & underarms......from what I've read anyway.
I'm pretty sure I'll get to stop the shots this week......don't know about the suppositories, though. It's not the end of the world using those....just inconvienent. Think monastat *every* day for a few months! LOL! Yick!
