Default Help get this baby out of my belly!!!!

Looking for any reasonable home remedy to start labor induction. My due date has been 3/26, but as of today baby is measuring 40 wks and I so do not want a C. I thought we were going wednesday night, then everything puttered out. I have to go back to the perinatologist on monday to discuss options for induction. She is head/face down, cervex is softening but not actually dialating. My ultrasound techs were betting for tommorow morning, I was hoping for a week ago!!! I actually had to stop working this past friday and being around the house is killing me, I'm exhausted and bored silly and my basement, the disaster that it is, is taunting me because I can no longer get up and down the stairs to give it the attention that it needs. Help get Emily out of the belly!!!! ---Kellie

~I wish I could tell you those old wives tales worked for me but they didn't! I tried soooo many of them; scrubbing floors, eating ridiculously spicy food, walking till I though my knees would pop, hot baths, cold baths, massages.....urg. My first was due 12/09/02 and was born by C-section on 12/25/02. My second was due 12/20/04 and was born VBAC 12/27/04. The last month of pregnancy is so miserable! But you're almost there and you haven't gone over yet. Prop your feet up and listen to some music! Get your rest while you can.~

~Oh, and my baby's measured "big" by their standards too. It's not always accurate. DS was over 2 weeks late and weighed in at 8lbs 8oz. DD was 1 week late and weighed in at 7lbs 15oz. Recovery from my VBAC(even though I broke my tailbone and and had a horrible tear) was 100 times easier than my c-section. OK, I'm done terrorizing you with my war stories! I'm wishing you a speedy, natural labor; the sooner the better!~

The latest thing I have heard to do is.... do what started her there in the first place ((wink, wink)). Then hang out. Am told that it starts things um, rolling. Then agian this could be a fresh wives tale.

(((HUGS))) Kelly. I remember those last few weeks of pregnancy all too well.
I'm praying that baby Emily decides to grace us with her presence soon, because short of induction (and even then maybe not) nothing will make her come out until she is good & ready.

Both DD's walked and walked and walked. I suggested the old roll in the hay routine and I about got shot. Sad thing is both DD's had c-sections for breech baby, and breech and transvurse (sp? sideways)twins. If they had just had it in them to wait 1 more week they wouldn't have had to walk....

Good luck. That last little bit of pregnanacy is awful. Thank goodness a baby is worth the wait!!!

Find the bumpiest road and race the cops....
You'll either start labor or at least stop thinking about it as they write up your tickets.

Best of luck, I always liked my kids being a little late, they grew more and I liked handling big babies, never little ones. My last one though I did stumble and sprang my ankle, that DID START LABOR TOO.. OK I'm not telling you to do that Hope Emily as all healty for you!!

I agree with putting your feet up and relaxing as much as you can now...

But on the note that you are looking for something to help move things along...a nice warm bath might relax the muscles a little bit. As the other ladies mentioned, sex does the trick sometimes. Worked with DS1. Was either that or the hiking through the mall that got things moving along.

She'll be here before you know it. We all wanna hear her birth story!! Take care and enjoy the last little bit before she makes her debut!

Nothing worked for me. I was a week and a half overdue...nothing worked....best advice is to just relax. Can you crochet the baby something or make him something?

Yes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

I hear walking sometimes works, especially if you're having mild contractions already. And it's true that sex can sometimes work; the man's, ahem, "contribution" contains natural prostaglandins, which can help with dilation.

That being said, neither worked for me. My water broke at 40w2d and even then I never did go into labour on my own. If you're *really* concerned, I'd have the doctor do a membrane strip next time you're in.
