False Labor
I started having contractions last night that were coming 10 minutes apart. That lasted for 4 hours, then they started coming about 6 minutes apart and increased in intensity. I waited those out for about 2 hours before deciding to go to the hospital because I'm a few days shy of completing week 36. I spent about 5 hours in the hospital, only to find that I wasn't progressing and they told me I was experiencing false labor. They sent me home with some sleeping pills so I could get some rest and my doctor told me to quit work.
I'm so frustrated because I really thought it was labor. Has anyone had an experience like this, where pains were getting closer and more intense only to stop being regular and then disappear? I've been having other contractions since coming back from the hospital, but they are random again. I hope true labor will start soon...

Frustrating isn't it? Lots of women have this happen. I had premature labor with the second and third kiddo. Good luck. Try to rest up now. Soon you will have your little one in your arms...and you'll be glad you rested before hand!

Oh, yes. I had lots of prodromal labour with both my boys. Make sure you are well hydrated; drink a couple glasses of water if you get a pattern like that again, and see if it dissipates. Also, a warm bath or a nap can ease off the warm-up labour and give you some peace if it's not yet time for the 'real deal'.

absolutely...this has happened to me several times. It is frustrating. My midwife told me to mix 2 tsp of ground cumin to 1 cup of hot water(tea-like) and drink it....drink about 2 cups....if you're experiencing false labor before 36 weeks, this remedy will surely make it stop (it did mine at 32 weeks).
When you are closer to your time and the contractions are bugging you, there is something called cauliphyllum...it is a homeopath. take about 5 pellets every 1/2 hour until the bottle is empty. I did this with my youngest and an hr after the bottle was gone....we were in business. The contractions leveled out & we had a baby soon afterwards. There have been times where I had contractions like yours 10 hrs at a time...I remember crying in frustration b/c I just wanted the baby to make up his mind & get here.Hang in there...pregnancy isn't forever

I had false labor with my first child. I will say though that you really don't want labor to start soon. A child born that early will likely have problems. Try to be patient and hold off a couple more weeks and then you can have a worry free labor. I know it is hard to be patient, but you really don't want a premmie.

I know how you feel. I am due in 2 days and have been having them off and on all week. I know it is helping though I am 4cm. so now just a waiting game. Good luck I know how frustrating it can be.
