Please let me know how you like the solar oven. It's one of the things on our list, as well. Paying attention to sites like Listening to Katrina, watching Doomsday Preppers. Continuing to add to food stockpile...

Had an extra 500 bucks - placed an order for dehydrated strawberries, blueberries and some freeze dried meats, plus other long shelf life items.I used a tub of the blueberries- they are good!

I watched the Doomsday preppers. I would like to live in the train cars but i would freeze here.
Found 4 pairs of jeans for Ds for 6.98-7.98.
They had air freshners cones in 6pks for $3.48 at Target. I feel odor and hygiene will be an issue.

Two of my friends grew up living in three shelled out antique buses, they did not run. The large school bus type. (Parents were hippies) The girls were in one bus the boys and parents in another. They had bunk beds in them, a small fridge and wood stoves. They cooked on hotplates, everything was ran off generators, they got all their water from a river near where they were camped.

Ordered 6 dozen more regular mouth Tattler lids, as well as 9 dozen each of wide mouth and regular mouth gaskets. I hadn't realized just how many of the second hand jars I found were regular mouth until I finished cleaning and making space for them in the pantry this week.

Great thread, wish I had found it sooner! We are in prep mode here too! I feel like I'm way behind since we have just started out. There are days I feel very overwhelmed by it all but we have a plan and I'm working through it each week.
Our biggest thing right now is food and water. I picked up #10 cans of tomato powder, freeze dried onions and quick cook beans. We also ordered 2 water BOBs and placed our seed order including heirloom seeds.

Ill let you know how the solar oven works when it gets here. The fruit was on back order so having to wait on that. I thought about building an oven from scratch, but am worried about the high winds here and blowing it away.

Today I picked up some H&B things to add to the stash, bar soap and shower gel, tooth brushes and tooth paste, shaving cream and razors and baby wipes (don't have babies anymore but these will come in handy for cleaning up if needed). I also picked up a small sewing kit and extra thread and needles.

I've been working on upgrading my kitchenware to items that will last. When I set up my home I got a lot of cheap junk because that's all I could afford when I needed so many things. This week I got all of the following in stainless steel:
3 nesting bowls, set of 4 biscuit/cookie cutters, bread pan, potato masher, canning funnel, flat canning rack, and one of those nice secure-grip jar lifters
