Default "Surviving the Apocalypse in the Suburbs"

    ......by Wendy Brown.

It's a great read with a lot of practical information. This was my splurge at Chapters. (The girls and I got ourselves Father's Day presents.)

The author has a relatively self-sufficient farm on 1/4 of an acre in the 'burbs. Some of the ideas wouldn't work for everyone but the basis is very good. She suggests that if you only had 21 days to prep for what she refers to as a "lower-energy world", you should spend one day prepping each of 21 items. While most of those items would take way longer than a day, it's a great way to break things down.

    Highly recommended!

Interesting. I read a few pages on Amazon. I'll need to look for it at the library.

I just read the 'preface' of that book in Amazon, the author has some interesting points.
We just a blackout on our street last night, the transformer blew out, it took the electrical company more than 6 hrs to restore power. Fortunately only affected a very small area, but what if the whole town was affected...
It's important to plan, or at least have some idea, what to do when diaster (small scale or big) happens.
I'll try to see if our library has it, if not, then I buy the kindle format.
