Default preppers with lots of toilet paper

I just watched a youtube video about storing toilet paper. He had the large metal drums filled with toilet paper. Where do you get those? Does anyone else have a different way to store toilet paper?

I thought I would post the link so that you will know what I am talking about.

I would like to store toilet paper. Any suggestions?

Right now we just keep ours in the original packaging and stored in a storage room. We have plenty of mothballs ( for snakes) and bait ( for rats and mice) in the room and so far nothing has gotten to it. We have a years worth for the two of us.
IF something went down and tp was to rise to a huge price, I would then start using cloth for urine and keep the paper for bowel movements. Then, after that we'd go to cloth for both.

I just bought metal drums for $8 a piece this past summer. A fellow advertized in a local free newspaper we get every week. I have no idea where he got them, but they were new and in excellant shape. Those are going to go into the rootcellar for storage when it's built.

We don't have mice, so we just store ours in the original packaging on shelves in our basement. We don't store anything on the concrete floor. Everything is elevated on commercial-grade steel shelving.

I have about 100 rolls stored, but think we need more. I just pick some up whenever I find a good sale, coupon, or both.

We have TP stored in the supply room on shelving. I also store cloth diapers that would be used for wiping. We also have personal squirt bottles for a hand held bidet system.

In my slightly damp basement, I've filled up some (4-6) buckets with tp. The buckets I get free from the grocery, and are not food-safe, but I figure it won't hurt the paper. If we get seepage in spring, or another 35 hours of rain (like Irene. . .) the buckets will keep everything dry, and also -mostly- mouse resistant. Most of the tp I keep on hand is above my cabinets in the mudroom - out of the way, and they don't really add weight to the cabinet. (Cabinets installed above the washer and dryer, and the counter alongside, about 14-16 feet long.)

I've been buying baby blankets and I have some flannel sheets I've found at the thrifts stores to use for making the cloth wipes.

We added another 36 "Mega" rolls to our stash yesterday, bring the total number of rolls to 138. I would like to have a two year supply.

I agree with some of the others. As I am trying to build a stockpile I would rather spend my money on food than TP and PT. I do have some that I have bought on sale, but as far as stockpiling it is not one of my priority items.

200 rolls can go quite a ways if you institute rationing and only allow 3-4 plies per use.

I did not think of baby blankets. The diapers are harder to find. I will use this tip- I can get the little blankets as cheaply as a dime or nickel here!

I think TP is a great item to stockpile! You will always use it, it will never expire, no need to worry about rotating, and expiration dates. If the price of TP keeps going up (like everything else) at least you will know that you got yours for less than everyone else is currently paying. It is also easy to store under beds, you don't have to worry about TP getting too hot, or freezing, so you can store it in the garage, where you might not want your food to be stored.

Some of ours in the attic, and the rest is in my very deep linen closet, behind the towels.

I only have a few months' worth and would really like to get to a years' supply.
