Survival Seed Bank
One of my facebook friends posted a like to this this website earlier today. It's an heirloom seed company, and I think this seed bank is too cool.
Survival Seed Bank
I might get one for my dad for Christmas.
Free shipping with coupon code Shipfree2011, but I'm not sure if that applies to the seed bank or not.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

I looked into these a few years back when the last recession hit. You can put together your own equivalent collection for far less from a reputable bulk seed company, thereby ensuring you get all the varieties you want, in the quantity you want, but also ensuring you get varieties that will thrive in your climate zone/soil type etc. Also, using crops you've grown yourself from successful heirloom species/varieties in your area you can compile your own seed bank from your own harvest.

I would caution people buying a "seed bank" that seeds are like any other perishable goods in your stockpile: they must be used and replaced before their shelf life expires. (Granted some seeds can remain viable for a long time, but most will expire in a few years.)
By all means purchase something like this to get you started. But use it to start growing your own crops, not for survival storage. Save your own seeds. Your survival seed bank should consist of seeds you (or your neighbours) have recently grown yourself. This ensures that not only are the seeds viable, but they are varieties that thrive in your local conditions.

We have long term seeds to bank in heirloom varieties. Some we have purchased, some we have collected, grown and saved. Banking seeds is a smart idea. The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is there for a reason. I want my own little mini one. LOL!!
