Default What do you have in your vehicle right now should....

You hit bad weather, nasty driving conditions, etc.

    We have 2 safety kits.

I need to put a shovel and a flashlight in this afternoon.

Definitely not enough. I need to get on this soon. It's just hard to remember to when we've had such warm weather recently. In fact, it's 60 here, even though it's raining. Crazy weather.

    I plan to add:

    *sand/salt
    *1 shovel
    *ice scraper/snow brush
    *wool blanket
    *1 gal water
    *first aid kit

The van has nothing because the seats and everything else has been taken out so we could bring lumber home.

The car has a blanket, a first aid kit, flashlight, and a candle with matches. I need to add water, granola bars and a shovel.

Since we got snow yesterday- we made sure we had our winter emergency kits in the cars.

    Included in these :

hand crank for cell phone power

    extra hats, gloves,socks, blankets

    sand bags

non perishable foods such as jerky, chocolate bars, instant soups, tea bags, sugar, peanuts

    candle and matches

    books and magazines

flashlight (these are also hand powered)

Like some of you, I haven't gotten to this chore yet. I've got one of those "space blankets" I plan to put in the car along with a flashlight. I have mice problems in my car (YUCK!) in the winter, so I hate to stash anything there they might find tasty.

BTW, and maybe you already have heard of this, but if you store a candle and matches in a lidded can you can then melt snow in the can for drinking. I used to carry one of these, but it's long gone.

When I had my Jetta I had an emergency road side kit, a flashlight and a blanket. In this car I have nothing really.....I need to change that since I am now driving most of the time with a child.

Nothing that I keep in there on a regular basis. My daily driving involves 1mile or less round trips in the city. So my cell phone is all that I need.

When we take road trips I pack blankets, snacks, flashlight, water, & flares.

Default need to remember a shovel.

    we have:

Chains, (for the less snow challenged, these are to wrap around your tires for added traction on icy surfaces)

    first aid kit, tire kit,

Jumper cables (our car is pretty reliable it's to help others)

    extra winter windsheild fluid

    extra snow and ice scrapers.

I have used the foot mats for traction when trying to rock a car out of deep snow.

LOL I just caught a typo, I wrote snot, and meant snow.

    the white stuff!

We usually have blankets, and a thing of nuts to munch on in emergencies. I need to put those back in. I think flares are in the tire kit.

we always have a box of kleenex and a roll of toilet paper which comes in handy for cleaning mud off the headlights as well as more usual uses.

Friend of mine once lost her rubber blade off the windsheild wiper, and substituted a tampon from her purse so the naked side woudln't scratch.

    ok she tied it on

and it was on the passenger side, and she needed to keep the main one going on the driver side without scratching the whole window.

NOPE she didn't have one big enough to cover the whole wiper assembly!

    I KNOW you were wondering!

I have nothing in my minivan besides my cell phone (which I carry on me at all times) I guess I need to get busy and prepare.

I am glad (in a weird kind of way) that I am not the only one with nothing in the car for emergencies.. We don't hardley ever get snow and when we do, I don't go anywhere.. I always carry my cell phone and make sure another adult knows the roads I will be traveling, if I go a long distance...
