Mattresses??
Has anyone purchased a frugally priced (new) mattress that they are happy with?? We'll be looking for an innerspring queen size, medium firm.
Thanks,
Becky

After many years of *frugal* innerspring mattresses, we bought a Temperpedic....not frugal, but worth every penny. So, I guess the short answer would be, no I haven't had very good luck with cheap matrresses. But...if you are younger with no health issues, a cheaper mattress is probably gonna be fine. My old bones just couldn't do it anymore!!!

I wouldn't go cheap on a mattress either. A cheap one just wouldn't support my back!

With mattresses you ar better buying a high quality matresses than trying to go frugal. While you may get a inexpensive mattress it will also be cheap. I have gone the inexpensive route a number of times and they only last 4 to 5 years. A good quality mattress will last for ten years or more, plus they are more comfortable. We bought the one we have now 5 years ago and it is still like new.

Go cheap on the base or box springs, but never go cheap on a mattress or your body and soul will get even with you for years to come. I will spend money on a good mattress before I will a car.
Years ago I purchased a Select Comfort (air) mattress and I've never regretted it, though admittedly I did not get much sleep the first few nights -- spent the whole time moving it from hard to soft and back again. Really wild and I learned I prefer a very soft mattress instead of a hard one. Go figure.

I agree.
Sometimes it is actually 'frugal' to go with a high quality mattress.
First.. you know what your getting. and you won't be getting someone else's bugs.
Second... your sleep and rest is vitally important to maintaining the energy you need to keep up with being frugal.
Third... it's your health. Ultimately.. it'll break down on you. Sooner than later.. and I'm just talking about the cheap mattress.
So, feel comfortable investing in a good quality mattress that you will sleep in probably... 7120 nights before you need to replace.
A good quality queen size set might run you about $1200-$1800 (it doesn't have to be the highest end). That translates into $0.17 - $0.25 per night of expected lifespan of the mattress.
But you can keep your mattress fully protected from those critters with a certified mattress protector $50 or so... guaranteed to protect. This way, it will last longer.

We bought a king size Nature's Rest mattress three years ago for 3000 dollars. Although it was very expensive, I would do it all over again. My back pain is gone, I sleep so well, it's comfy, it will last twice as long as a spring mattress (according to research I've done.) I would not go cheap with a mattress. I have the same kitchen table and chairs from my parent's house (falling apart and 30 years old, not in a nice antique way) and I'd deal with old cheap kitchen furniture, but not a cheap mattress.
