    Am I following this correctly? If you go to some of the above mentioned sites and download this stuff I would not have to buy Norton? I have XP.

    Can you expand on how you enabled the firewall? (or even to check if it's on). I have Vista but wasn't aware it came with a firewall.

    I don't know about Vista, but on XP it's in the Control Panel...and it's called "Windows Firewall". Hopefully they didn't change that too much when they developed Vista.

    Awesome YankeeMom, thank you! It really helps to see visually where to check the setting. I was especially curious to know if it was already ON or not and it was! I also see there is something there called Windows Defender that scans for spyware...didn't know about that one either! I love learning new stuff from the forum...thanks!
