Serve New England - Has anyone tried this?
Hello,
I have been trying to do a comparison between Angel Food ministries and Serve New England (similar to SHARE). I used to get AFM 10 years ago when I lived in Arizona, but the packages were $15 then and I was a broke single mom (I would split the pkg w/ another broke single mom ). When I bought them then, I would get tons of fresh produce, great meats, beans w/ recipes to go with them, etc. It was wonderful. Anyway, they seem to have changed a lot since then and I have read some bad reviews on the taste of their food now. I may try a box anyway, given my past experience.
At the same time, I have been trying to compare them to Serve New England. Has anyone here tried Serve? Or, better yet, both programs?
I don't find it an incredible savings over sale prices + scratch, but since my husband and I work full time & have two children, time is precious
. If I can spend the same $, but spend less time shopping for it, it will be a great help. If I get to spend less money, that is even better.
Any thoughts on comparing the two? I did read the recent posts on Angelfood.
Thanks!
Kerri

Hi! I bought Serve for about 5 months last year. The produce was good, the meats were good. (dh's favorite was the oriental pork strips). The only problem I had with some of their meat offerings is that some of them contain msg (if they're flavored) and msg gives me migraines. I've actually gone vegetarian now, so I no longer buy the package since its' only dh and ds that will eat it. Definetly worth the $25! Actually, I think the produce alone is close to $20.

It just dawned on me that I can get both boxes. The distribution day is the same for both. Both programs seem to have benefits - I will get more fresh produce w/ Serve & a few quick and easy meals with Angelfood. And, $55 for that much food is not a bad deal.
