    Default Frugal wedding gifts

    Hey everyone,

I have a wedding to go to next week and I don't have a clue what to get this couple.

1st - I personally don't know the couple, it is a softball buddy of my dh's

So I pretty much need to get something frugal but thoughtful..

Any suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

A great gift that the newlyweds can use is kitchen towels! You can get them in neutral colors or designs. Buy some cheap washclothes, roll them up and arrange them in a basket.. Maybe get a mason jar and make them cookies in a jar with a recipe and ingredients they have to add to make them.. Wha-la! A frugal, usefull wedding gift.
Or, you can go to the dollar store and fill a mixing bowl with all kinds of kitchen gadgets(they're ony $1 a piece so it would be cheap)
Hope that helps. I'm sure others will have great ideas too.

The best gift we got was Christmas items. Our wedding was in July and man I tell you that was the last thing I would have thought we needed but it came in so handy.

Myself I go to the outlet store and pick up 2 nice plates(1.50 a piece) 2 nice crystal glasses(1.75 a piece) tablecloth and place mats from Walmart, and a vase. I place it all in a basket from good will and add a note:
    For richer and poorer
    Hamburgers and Lobsters
    Two or a Dozen
A night a romance in no further then
    A basket

Thank you, these were all very good ideas. I will have to swing them by my dh and see what he wants to do.

    Thanks again!

A friend of mine did this a few times. She would have a frame ready. Then she would take a nice photo of the couple in the church on her digital camera. Then she would hop by one of those quick photo places (less than one hour) and get an 8x10 photo made. She would have it displayed on a table at the reception. Everyone was surprised and loved it! I thought that was a really nice, thoughtful and inexpensive gift!

wine glasses from the dollar store and a bottle of champagne or wine in a basket (add a bottle opener if the wine needs it). Tie ribbons on the basket and add a card.

Go to the craft store (Michael's or Ben Franklin) and buy some wine/champagne glasses. Decorate them with glass paint. Doesn't have to be fancy. Add a bottle of wine if you'd like!

my daughter just had her bridal shower two weeks ago..since I'm spending money on everything else for the wedding, I gave her a copy of my grandmother's cookie recipe cookbook that I've been copying into a leather bound book for the past 6 months..and a few dish towels that I picked up at the Dollar tree..(they actually have NICE dish towels there!)..since you don't know this person, a nice simple bottle of wine would be appropriate-in a nice cloth wine bag that you can find at the dollar store!

*edit..LOL I didn't see all the suggestions for wine and wine glasses!..seems like alot of us agree!

I did this for a friend recently. Buy three bottles of wine, one for their first year anniversary, one for 5th year, and one for 10th year. Include a card with each that celebrates each of these anniversaries. (Ex: Happy five-year anniversary! Can you believe you've been married for five years? Time sure flies!) Wrap all three w/ cards together and instruct couple to open each bottle of wine on the designated anniversary. Make sure to check with a wine seller regarding wines that are appropriate for extended storage.

I love the picture idea! We have a wedding in January that I will do this for. Dh cousin. I even saw a frame that I liked just this weekend, so I might just pick it up when I go shopping this week.
