Default Question about odd experience today...

So, my son comes in to tell my that there is a woman sitting in our flower bed. Thought he was joking, but sure enough, there was. I guess she had tripped and ended up there covered in dirt. Neighbors were all standing around looking at her. I have no idea who she is, she is covered in paint and seems totallly loopy. She keeps asking me when we are doing the church thing and I have no idea what she is talking about.
Neighbors across the street seem to know who she is and we help her and they walk her home. So my question is...can she sue us for falling on our property? There is no hazard, adaquate railing. Just seems very strange to me. Did I do the right thing or should I have called the EMT's and police? She was really nuts.

Since there's no police report and it wasn't officially reported to anyone at the time it happened, I think you should be in the clear.

Plus if she was that out of it, she probably won't remember where she fell (or even that she fell at all).

Covered in paint? As in, like this?

I doubt she'd want to draw any attention to that incident... And you can't sue over something you can't remember!

Good thing too that there were lots of witnesses to how out of it she was.......I think you're fine.

You should be ok but in Maine (I have a Maine Property and Casualty Insurance License) if you are hurt on someone else's property, they can sue you. If a burglar breaks in and hurts himself (or herself), they can sue you - And WIN!

    Good Luck.

Hmm, maybe she had had a stroke at one time or dementia. Scary for you but I would imagine scary for her too. As for sueing you, anyone can sue you for anything at any time. Hopefully that won't happen.

It sounds like it's health related & needs some medical help. Hope she's going to be ok, poor thing.

You are right, a strange and unusual experience.

I doubt she'll sue you, and I'm glad the neighbors recognized her, are aware of her condition, and were able to help.
