Evening casual?
My HS reunion is coming up next month (day after Thanksgiving), and the invitation says that the attire is "evening casual". What the heck does that mean? I don't want to be underdressed or horribly overdressed for that matter. :gah:

Thats so funny thats when my HS reunion is as well but we are not going.
Even casual I think would be kahki's/dress slacks for men and a button down shirt w/tie but no jacket. For women I would say a nice dress around thigh length.

Honestly, I always see casual whether it's evening casual, business casual, golf casual. It really depends on where it will be held - beach, pavilion, hotel. I guess the safest will be a wrap dress or a skirt with a pretty top. For DH, sport shirt, a great sport jacket and slacks.

It's at a Marriott...a pretty nice one too. For appetizers, cash bar.

We hear this stuff on cruise boards a lot. What I've found to be 'right' for evening casual is (depending on the weather ofcourse) is a dressy pair of capris, nice top and heals. Or a casual type skirt or dress. For the men it would be Docker type pants, long sleeve button up, with or without a tie or a jacket no tie. If your weather is cool I'd think a nice pair of pants, nice top and heals. Think Sunday only not Easter.....lol.

For me, I'd wear the dressy jeans that make my butt look good, a pair of heeled boots, and a nice blouse with a velvet jacket. But...I didn't go to my reunion.

Do you have dressy gauchos or capris? You could pair them up with a nice shirt.

My definition of evening casual depends on both the weather and who will be there. I have this killer halter top dress and wicked shoes that I have saved for my reunion.

Aww
Hmm well then, I'd say a nice pair of black slacks and a dress shirt with heels?

Evening causual would mean "dressy" but not an evening gown. You said you'd probably want to wear a dress, any type of dress should be safe! I'm sure you'll have people wearing everything from totally casual to dressed to the nines.
At our 10 year reunion, we had people wearing everything from jeans & sweaters to formal gowns. One girl wore her senior prom dress and made her husband rent a tux...while they looked totally out of place, it was awesome to see her in the dress she wore 10 years ago!

I'd guess that 'evening casual' means no jeans, tee's and sweats nor runners. Think office casual and then glam it up a bit with acessories to look 'fun'
Black slacks, heels for trousers lol if you know what I mean and a crisp white button blouse would do it. Glam it up with plastic costume jewellery from Claire's or something. OR do the white button collared shirt with a skirt and the boots that go up to the knees and the acessories.

I would think wear what you feel comfy in. But thinking no sweatsuits or tuxedos.

I wore nice jeans, a cute halter top with black sweater and heels. But most wore jeans, or khakis and button up shirts for guys.
Have fun! Dont obsess. Once you start talking it wont matter what you wore!
