Awww... that's awesome crying over something you really really wanted.. Actually I think I got my first mixer around 3 yrs ago..believe it or not I was afraid to try it out..LOL..my mom never made anything from scratch other then homemade noodles which really were only dumplings that she put into an hungarian dish and that was it involving any scratch cooking.... I didn't have anyone to teach me how to use it as my mom had passed away the year before so I taught myself little by little...I'm glad that my boy's got to experience seeing their mom make homemade breads/desserts and not think that everything comes from a box or a bag that you buy from a grocery store like I use to think.. I hope their companions do the same..I called my SIL and she was very excited..

Ya, my kids thought it was funny how their Mom cried over an appliance.
I'm like that with some new things too & watch hubby try it out first, lol.
That really was a sweet thing for you to do for your sil, she'll always remember this.

Darlene I had to cut the post short but wanted to add that my sil just started to taken lessons from her friend on how to make wedding cakes & other specialty cakes..she said she's been talking to her hand mixer (LOL) telling it not to die when trying to make her buttercream frosting...So it's perfect timing..

I just have to tell you that this mixer is HUGE compared to my 5-quart KitchenAid mixer.. even the whip attachment is twice the size of the old one....I'm not going to be able to use it until I move into my house where I have counter space for it..I'm not kidding when I say it's a really good size mixer..It feels like Christmas morning...LOL..Thanks for letting me share my excitement with you all..

I know what you mean with living in a trailer for years and having a kitchen the size of a bathroom= no room...When we move into our new house it will have a home on top of my new Kitchen island cart..

I have that one, and the only thing I don't like is the bowl lift. I much prefer the tilt head.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, Brenda.

I have a KA mixer with a tilt head - I'm not sure what size it is. I've had it for about 15 or so years. I've used the thing to death, and dd loved it so much she wouldn't move out until she had her own. How could she possibly make chocolate chip cookies without a KA? lol Now, she has moved out and ds is 20 and lives his own life. My KA sits most of the time in the corner by herself. I still use her but not as much as I used to. So my answer would be: It depends on where one is in life. I will never need a bigger one than I have now. But if my kids were little and I was still cooking and baking like I used to I'd have no problem buying a new one.

Mine's a 6 quart Pro. Love it. I make all our bread and it gets a workout! Also use the food grinder attachment for ground meat. I have the slicer/shredder but don't like it. I'd like to have the grain mill.

I also have the 6 qt pro and LOVE it! I've had it for almost 5 years and use it for everything, not just baking! It is worth every penny we spent on it!!
