Default Electric balnkets: do you use them?

We are thinking about purchasing a few electric blankets for this winter for our beds. Does anyone use them, and if so what kind do you have and which do you like or dislike. Opinions needed please. Thanks.

I have one not sure of the brand it has dual controls my dh is hot natured. my oldest dd has one also for her bed. Here in the south we only use them mostly in Jan or Feb if it get real cold. My youngest dd 6 I was told not to put one on her bed she might overheat she has extra blankets. I like my dual control. I use mostly thermal blankets though. One that is extra thick and flanel sheets.

When I was a kid, I couldn't live without one. Now I just take the chill off the bedroom with a space heater, then pile a bunch of blankets on. I find I sleep better in a cool room with a lot of blankets than when I'm artificially heated.

We have one with dual controls also. It was given to me this past summer when my parents were visiting from Florida. It's great. I've never used one before.

I'm thinking of buying DD one for Christmas but not sure if she'd use it.

No, I don't like the feel of all the wires in the blanket fabric.

I had one and I loved it! I need to get another. It's so nice to climb into a warm bed!

My kids didn't like the feel of the wires either so I put old flannel blankets on underneath them. I turn them on a bit before bed and it works great.

We like heated mattress pads better. They seem to heat the bed better.

We love them,I bought all of us one for this winter. The girls age 17 and 13 take there showers at night ,so they turn them on before getting in the shower and climb into a nice warm bed and read for while before the ligts go off. I do the same thing.

i turn mine on about 20 minutes before i go to bed, and turn it off when i get in. i fall asleep better if the sheets arent ice cold
I dont like the wires either, so i keep the heating blanket on the very top, and then my quilt, then the sheet.

Yes I love my electric blanket!
I also turn mine on before going to bed and
turn it off when I turn off my light for the night
dh also has one and loves it as well,
but I had to work for 3 years to get him to use it.

We also use flannel sheets and love them too!

I like ours. My DD's blanket has an auto shut-off. Mine is a full size I use for my queen size bed. I found no reason to heat the sides of my bed so the full size is plenty big enough. I also have an electric heated matress pad that I don't like and don't use because there's nothing worse to me than laying on wires all night long.

We used to when we lived in an old, drafty apartment. It was a Sunbeam and I loved it so much. I'd just turn it on to take the chill off before we got in bed, and turn it off before we'd fall asleep - it kept us comfy all night.

We had an electric blanket and I did like it. But I was always a little uneasy with the idea of it being on all night. I always had a fear that it would start a fire so I would constantly wake up during the middle of the night because I was thinking about it so much.

Our dog chewed on the cord so we don't have it anymore. I don't think I'd buy another one again.

Try on of the micro fleece blankets instead, incredibly warm and no electricity required!
