The dog treats I buy are relatively expensive - US made, no by-products. It would have to be cheaper and healthier for the dogs if I made them from scratch.
I would suggest trying recipezaar.com and typing in dog biscuits.
I've had great sucess at finding both traditional & non-traditional recipes there.
Also if you happen to have a dehydrator you can dehydrate both strips of sweet potatoes & chicken livers as treats as well.
Your dogs will go K-RAZY for them!!!!
Here is a link to the recipe that I use (It's on my blog) ~ I have been making them for quite awhile and all the dogs that have lived here have loved them
I got my recipe in the Tightwad Gazette and all my dogs have loved them. As a matter of fact my snack cabinet is next to the stove. My dog will go past the snack cabinet, point at the stove with his nose and grunt. (I used to keep them in their so the pilot light could dry them out).
I gave the recipe to a girlfriend and her dog also loved them. One day her husband walked into the kitchen and asked, "Why is your dog staring at the oven?"
I am at work so I don't have it on hand but it was in the first Tightwad Gazette. You could probably find it online.
