Walgreens?
A Walgreens is being built right around the corner from me. I've been in one before, but I don't shop there because they used to be quite far away. But now...
Does anyone have input on how their prices are, or how they compare to other stores? Is it worth checking out, or do you find them to be overpriced? I'm talking paper goods, cosmetics, cleaning supplies, or whatever. Thanks for the input!

I just started shopping at Walgreens a few months ago. They have really good deals. Every month they have items that are free after rebate, and you can apply for the rebate online, so it's easy. If you elect to your rebate put on a Walgreen's gift card, they add an extra 10% to the rebate amount. Often with coupons, you end up making a little money or at least covering the tax so the item is truly free.
Walgreens also has weekly specials on items that will give you a coupon for money good on your next purchase. You can also use manufacturers coupons to make these really good deals.
It is sometimes complicated getting the deals at Walgreens, but I think it is worth the effort. I have been building up a good stock pile of non-food items just from shopping at Walgreens.Last edited by RaineyDaye; 11-07-2008 at 09:34 AM.

I agree, if you get the store coupons in addition to the manufacturers coupons you can really make out. The store coupons sometimes are a really good deal alone.

I have just started going to Walgreens in the last few months. I watch the ads and then I combine my coupons with the sale items. I also do the rebates, as each month they have H&B items that are free after rebate. If you do the rebate online, you can have the money loaded onto a gift card and it usually takes less than a week. They also give you an extra 10% of your total if you reload an old gift card. I do feel that their regular prices, especially on food are generally quite higher than a grocery store. Even some of the H&B seem higher too, but when they're on sale or rebates, many things end up being free or very inexpensive. They also have register rewards which are basically coupons that you earn toward your next purchase. You do have to pay attention to the expiration dates of these as they are only about 2 weeks. My husband laughs when I tell him how much I get there and how much I actually end up spending on it.

I love getting the Walgreens rebates. I've stocked up on many H&B products over the past few years from there.

We're getting a brand new Walgreens here, too. We already have 5 other stores to get medicine or drugs so it wasn't needed in this little city. Our main street is all drugstores or banks. Only one main grocery store, though.

I love Walgreen's! In my area, they have hands-down the best deals. Especially with the coupons in the Sunday paper. Often the deals at Walgreen's are twice a cheap as the deals at my local grocery store.

Walgreens has great prices on spices, dehydrated fruit and some other foods especially with the Sunday coups. I'll have to look into the rebate stuff cuz' I haven't done that yet.

I'm planning to hit Walgreens the week after Christmas to stock up on candy. Last year I filled a shopping cart (!!!!) with holiday cookies and candies at 80% off. Kept in our 2nd fridge it lasts a very long time. We are down to the last pack of chocolate cherries and last box of mints. Can't wait for the New Year.
