What skincare do you use?
I am wondering what all you frugalistas out there use for skincare. I realize there will be a broad range of what people can afford, what their skin needs/tolerates, and people who make their own.
I have 46 year old sensitive skin with a bit of sun damage. At present I'm using an organic NZ made cleanser & moisturizer, and sometimes vary it a bit by using samples.
I would ideally like to keep things as cheap as possible
Any ideas? Looking forward to hearing what others doLast edited by mrsmac62; 11-15-2008 at 02:22 AM.

I wash my wash in the shower with the bath soap most of the time just water.
I also like to use oatmeal as a mask. I also use honey as a mask.
I do put on so lotion when my face feels dry. I use Cetaphil lotion as it is the only one that I have found that doesn't make me break out in a rash.

I use Philosophy stuff but I love the Aveeno cleansing pads, they make your skin feel so soft and smooth.

I normally use Mary Kay's Satin Hands on my face (I use everything but the emollient). It is pricey (about $30) but it lasts me at least a year, so I figure, relatively, it isn't that bad. I just ran out and I am trying to decide if I should buy more or try something else less expensive.

For cleansing, I use Ivory, followed by a homemade cider vinegar toner. I also do an asprin mask at least ones a week and a mint julep mask if my pores are looking clogged.
To keep wrinkles away, I use Renova, which is a prescription retinoid that's less irritating that Retin-A. You can buy it online from Mexico or Canada and it's about the same price as drugstore skincare products. It's about $100/tube in the US.

I tried so my creams expensive good brands and less expensive, but figured out that only one works for me and my budget. I have dry skin and use POND"S cream all this years. Looks like it work, because I do get compliments about my fair skin. I usually buy a couple of jarswhen it is on sale for $4.99. Once a week I use homemade mask. oatmeal, or honey, olive oil, egg yolk). I do take my vitamins and make sure there vitamin E, apparently is good for your skin.

For the aspirin mask I just crush 6 uncoated asprin tablets and mix with some Cetaphil to make a paste. Then I apply a thin layer to my fac. Once it dries, I rinse with warm water, taking advantage of the grittiness of the aspirin for exfoliation.
ACV Toner:
Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Tea, Distilled Water, Ylang Ylang Oil (or any other essential oil of your choice) , Lemon Essential Oil
Fill a bottle 1/3 full of ACV (more for oilier skin and less for dry skin). Heat 2/3 cup of distilled water to a boil, then add 3-4 green tea bags and let it steep for 30 minutes or longer, then remove teabags. Cool the tea and add it to the ACV, leave room for the essential oils. Add 12 drops of Ylang Ylang oil (if your skin is not oily, add less or leave it out altogether) and 12 drops of Lemon essential oil.

I use Cetaphil cleanser.I use Anthelios SPF 60 LX Cream daily, without fail, regardless of the weather.(I want to protect the skin from UVA waves as well as UVB).Wear a hat when you are going to be exposed to sun between 10 and 2.Once a week I use a banana mash masque. Then daily I use Retin-A cream . Around the eyes I have some sort of little eye cream from Avon. That's it.

actually, I use exuviance ~ sensitive skin formula! It's darn sure not "cheap" but it does last me for about 2 or 3 months usually... but I use it b/c it's the one thing that my skin doesn't have a bad reaction to! I'm allergic to tons of stuff & this actually makes my skin look & feel wonderful! Granted I do use Clean & clear pimple cream on occassion, but it took me a long long time to find something that my skin doesn't react to badly! so I guess in the long run, it's actually cheaper for me to use this! lol!

I use Aveeno Calming Cleanser and Mary Kay moisturizer. My skin is super sensitive and easily aggravated, now that I've finally found something that works, I'm staying put.

I just wash my face with plain old Ivory bar soap. I moisturize with either lubriderm or aveeno lotion. Everything else breaks me out.

Another fan of Cetaphil here. I have sebhorreic dermatitis, and it is one of the few soaps (and lotions) that doesn't cause a reaction on my face.
