    Red face saving plants

a friend gave me these 2 near death plants a little before the first frost.

i kept them outside w/sun & water and they did ok.
i trimmed them back (to save energy) after the first frost & having brought them in the house...
near windows (but not too close as it's now around freezing temps most days), plenty of houselight & water every so often... i think they're on their last leg.

one i think is a total goner (wasnt much when i received it) and i guess i dont have a green thumb.

i need advice on what to do to help these plants.

let me tell you what they are:
    petunia & supertunia (hybrid)

    thanks in advance

I adore petunias, and was surprised to learn that they often wilt when overwatered. Also, they tend to wilt if the flowers get wet.

This link has info re: a specific variety, but I found it helpful:

Petunias are not really a house plant. I would say give it up if they don't look good. They like a lot of sun, they won't get that in the house.

I thought petunias were annuals. Doesn't that mean they only last one year and have to be started again from seed the next year?
