Default Tried and True Low Protien Recipes?

My husband is on a low protien diet because of his kidneys.
Do any of you have any great low protien recipes? No meat, cheese, eggs, soy etc...
    TIA

You can look at the National Kidney Foundation website. they give guidelines for adapting you own recipes to be low protein. This is the addy:

    http://www.kidney.org/atoz/atozitem.cfm?id=89

Other than that, doing a quick yahoo search for low protein recipes brings up many, many sites.
I've been a nurse for many years and basically we teach the patients to read the labels and add the protein amounts and make sure its less than whats on their diet.
That being said, I know you were wanting homade foods but the best I can give you is the guidelines on the NKF site.

Staying home doing nothing is a lot more fun if you don't have to do it.

When I was on a low protein diet for my kidneys, I got a cookbook from the NKF. It may have been called "The Renal Diet" or "Cooking for the Renal Diet" - I just remember it was bright red and had decent recipes in it.

Mind you that was 16 years ago. Before my successful transplant. *knocks wood*

Look in the library, or contact the NKF.

    Good luck!

I noticed low-protein products and low-protein recipes at Ener-G Foods web site today.
