Default My Purpose For Being Frugal Is...

This has probably already been asked many times
and I did a search and didn't find this exact
    question being asked.

But after reading many, many posts here on FV
I can tell there are so many different reasons for
being frugal. Some to become debt free, some
so that they can be a SAHM/SAHW/H/SO,
some to stretch the dollars as far as they can.
Others to become financially independent or to
    prepare for retirement.

So I was wondering what most people's reason
for working so hard at being frugal. Ours is
to become financially independent, stretch our
dollars as far as we can and to simplify our
    lives.

    What's yours?

My goal is to become debt-free, which won't take long, but the main thing is that I'm a single mom with an ex who isn't dependable when it comes to keeping jobs and giving child support. I first began this journey to change my life in such a way that I would no longer be dependant on whether or not he paid. Now, I don't need it, but when I get it, it's extra.

    I am frugal to be:

    1: debt free

2: a SAHD. To prevent the need for a second income, I have to make every penny count. That means frugality.

I'm frugal in order to save money so that it's available when I need something, instead of needing something, then finding the money.

We are debt free and both retired.

I'm frugal so that I can stretch our dollars (we live on a limited income) and in stretching those dollars we can do some of things we enjoy doing.

We need to stretch what money we have coming in.
At some point in time, I would like us to be debt free.
Currently we have the house payment and one vehicle.
Everything else here is paid for. Cash and carry.
We just have the utilities, property taxes, vehicle and house insurance.

We are debt free and retired with part time jobs. That means that we need to be careful with our money, but we do have a little leeway. We want continued independence. We want to be prepared for the future and not surprised. We want to live deliberately and not accidentally. But most of all, we want to live as good stewards of what we have. As Christians, we don't think any of it belongs to us; we are just caretakers.

    Financial:
Debt free, hoping to stay that way!

I am frugal because my husband does not make enough money to pay for all our needs and my wants. I won't pretend I am not a material girl because I am. I love my husband enough that I don't want him to kill himself to buy the things I want. So I find other ways to get what I want. I would rather save money on utilities and food so that I can buy new shoes with cash. I have not used a credit card in years and have no desire to put myself into debt with shopping.

Mostly because I need to be responsible and stretch our money as far as it will go and I am paying off my student loan and a few medical bills.

I picked the second and fourth reasons. I want to use our money wisely. Not pay top dollar for something I can get for less.

Also, we recently retired, and I hope to live a long time, and that's gonna take money. So I'm thinking about old age expenses.

I chose to be financially independent. Although, it's really a mix of all of the above. Originally it was to payoff credit card debt. Now I really want to be a stay at home mom and wife, so we're saving for that!

All of those things tie in together, but my 'reason' for being frugal is because dh and I work hard for our money and I hate giving it away! So I stretch my dollars the best I can. I always announce that I'm stopping the PG&E meter when I turn off a light The rest of it - paying off debt, staying out of debt, saving for retirement, is a natural result of stretching our dollars.
